Astro Bot won, because it not only referenced Wild Arms, but they were lucky enough not to reference the Screen Saver option, otherwise the game would have been disqualified as the game awards wouldn’t be able to handle the legendary-ness of it 😊

Some people are questioning Astrobot's award at this year's TGA, is this work really worth it? Yes, I think that's enough and I want to stick to this. It's true that games these days focus a lot on elements such as deep narratives and realistic graphics, and I don't deny it. But basically, I think games are entertainment and something we should enjoy and have fun with. In that sense, Astrobot has achieved the play aspect more successfully than any other element. I feel it is most appropriate for Astrobot to receive the award.

I agree. It wasn't my personal GOTY but it's a really important game for the industry so I'm glad it won.

@@희재김-p8r That's what a lot of people ignore, many Wukong fans for example always bring up sales numbers as an indicator of quality. I was personally rooting for Rebirth or Metaphor as both were astounding JRPGs (which rarely win), but Astro Bot is a very deserving GOTY winner due to its pure entertainment value.

What do you think is the best moment of this TGA? I was very surprised and also very happy that onimusha's new work and ookami's sequel were announced, because both games were special memories of my PS2 days. I really thought FF7 Rebirth got robbed too. Honestly, it should’ve won best RPG and voice performance besides music/score. That was the thing I was mostly upset about this year’s Game Awards. Plus, it doesn’t help how for last year, it was the most anticipated 2024 game

Probably lost Best RPG due to the poor handling of the pacing throughout the game and narrative/direction in the 3rd Act. Kind of need a great, consistent story for an RPG. So since Rebirth faltered in that, made winning best RPG an uphill battle. I am sad Aerith VA lost best performance though.

However, you do have a point on the narrative since I feel like the last two chapters felt rushed to me. That was another criticism I noticed from the game besides how some music can be louder than the speaking

Honestly I am just happy Rebirth didnt win best narrative or game of the year. Mostly because the story was a mess in tge 3rd act and the pacing was just a mess the entire game (why does it take till the end of Chapter 10 out of 14 for things to final progess paat "Follow the men in black robes" and whybare all the Zack scene so poorly implemented), but also because I hooe this will take down the extremist Rebirth fans down a peg to where they will finally acknowledge the game's flaws and not claim its a "generational game"or masterpiece. Though that probably wont haooen until they are done having their meltdown over the Game Awards and coping by finding every obscure or alternate awards shows to try and disprove why it lost at the Game Awards. At least its good entertainment while they are losing it.
