As a huge fan of the first and how sad I was when they pulled it, I was so happy when I heard they were working on a new one. And then, this trailer drops at the Game Awards and I nearly fell out of my chair. I'm so hyped and happy that Splitgate is returning! It's gonna be so much fun.

YES!!!! I thought the first splitgate was going to be HUGE but the aspect of only having a couple weapons and everyone spawning with the same weapon made it feel repetitive. I REALLY hope you guys went all out on this one. I was heartbroken when the first one died. I'm gonna have to start playing splitgate again to stay warmed up on my portal game. If you guys need any testers I'm a software engineer and would love to play and give feedback on certain things (UI but im fullstack so I might have more input than just the UI and menus and feel)

@@xan42O Not a dev, just a former SG1 MVP and current playtester. They announced it prior to the playtests and the controls have been that way in the playtests. I never had an issue with the original portal controls, but I have to admit I do really enjoy the simplicity of the 1 button portals. They programmed it really well.

@HunterKiller_321 well when i tested the beta or alpha or whatever there was no portal settings but good to hear theyre adding it back in. To each their own, but i think its objectively worse to dumb down/simplify/remove mechanics that made the first game unique to begin with. I for one am not a fan of it just trying to be like every other shooter on the market.

@@xan42O I get what you’re saying, but I think you should look at it from a different perspective. 1 button portaling allows the portal mechanic to be simplified. What that now means is the barrier of skill to start playing SG2 is lower than that of SG1. The skills to be in the top % of players will remain at a high level, but now more players can enjoy the Splitgate 2 experience. They’re creating something to include new players. More players = a better gaming experience for all of us I wouldn’t want them to give us a cut and paste of SG1, I want to see the game evolve and be successful and I have no doubt in this team that they are going to deliver.

The devs did an interview awhile back when SG2 was first announced saying that they were having trouble adding stuff to the original game. I can't remember exactly but I think they said it was the engine holding it back, it's been awhile since I read it. But the main point was they wanted to do so much more with the original but couldn't. It's why they built the new one from the ground up. This new one is going to have everything we've been asking for. I loved SG1 but it was low on content and didn't have much to grind for. Apparently we're not gonna have to worry about that with the new one. It was a great article and worth trying to find. Once I read that I was super hyped and that was before they even dropped the first teaser.

Damn, the maps look sick!🔥 But just HOW BIG is SubZro (I presume thats the map name)?! That looks insanely huge! I was (positively) surprised by the 6 player team the first time, but rewatching it and taking a closer look at that map it makes a hell lot of sense. But like, is the shape basically a huge L-shape? Or straight up a flipping circle? And what's with those giant portals? From the shots shown here it does seem like there's two of them on SubZro, but the question would be: are they functional? That'd be absolutely insane! Also the map Kinetic (the one at 0:09, 0:44 and 0:53; I think, maybe, not 100% sure that's the name?) visually looks REALLY amazing! I'm really curious to check it out when it eventually releases.

I'm already missing my golden tiger skin deeply... And every single weapon was customized to my liking - and I tried a whole lot of skins per weapon to find each one. And now I can't hunt as a tiger AND can't have my gear in styles that enhance the feeling as well as help me differentiate them and what to use in what situation. And everything is cyan, purple and pink - literally my three least favorite colors of the rainbow. And I really do like colorful/playful/happy stuff... For me it's emotionally tough to get into SG2 and I don't want to leave SG1 behind.. It feels like having to update from windows 7 to windows 11...

Nah, I've played the alpha and it's about the same. in fact it can be slightly slower as you now need skills to lead on shots and place yourself as all guns have spread and projectile speed. it's tight, think halo, but more accurate than that. this trailer ends up showing off a lot of the instakill weapons, the sniper for one. and that sniper has a way lower firerate than the old one did.
