The PTR-9c is my choice. I freaked out at almost NO point-of-impact shift with a non-indexed Dead Air Wolfman running in 3-lug. I had a 9ct but my other half fell in love with it right after I bought it like I fell for her. I love em' both. (Her and my 9c.)

I got my PTR 9CT about a year ago, I absolutely love it as well, currently running a Holosun gold dot optic and Griffin Optimus in the tri-lug config. I would like to set it up for NVG use in the future (after my wife and I buy a house and I buy another motorcycle I’ll be able to buy NVG’s) but it’s definitely in my top 3, my 11.5 and 13.9 suppressed AR’s are my favorites though.

I totally agree that PTR is a good economical option as compared to the HK original! But have you ever handled one of the low tier MP5 clones that came out of Turkey (Zenith/century arms)? I ve always wondered what quality control differences and parts comparability were between all the manufactures. Great content as always and look forward to next week!

Zenith/MKE are produced on HK machining from their original license. One would expect there to be near perfect parts compatibility, however that's no guarantee.

Yeah, I've compared both carefully, PTR is better as it is updated. I don't personally want an exact replica, I want modern changes on a timeless platform. That's just personal opinion though.

I love everything about that setup except the MCX-looking stock. It's just weird seeing that on an MP5 variant, lol. I personally like the B&T-style stocks the best for a fixed stock. Can't go wrong with the classic 2-position collapsible stock, either.

Yeah, I'm not exactly "a poor" but I am responsible with my dollars. In my younger years, that meant buying the clones and rehearsing the line "it's just as good." Of course, that "it's just as good" is a flatout lie. I remember my days working in a machine tool shop to know better. Most, if not all, of the MP5 copies are closer to being clones than other formats. I may be mistaken, but I believe PTR does have some HK machining in their facility...and machining tools do need periodic adjustment, repair, and replacement. PTR is a good company, but as a whole they've had alot of issues with their G3 copies. So now, that I'm not really a "poor" anymore I have redefined what being responsible with money is. It's called spending a little more to always get the items that everyone states their products are "just as good as." So yes, no Tauruses, no DS Arms, no Sarsilmaz, no Tisas, etc. Better to have one or two nice things to have pride in, than six or seven things you have to make excuses for.

I have learned these same lessons the same way. the hard way. I'm not familiar with their G3's but having shot the SP5, MP5, AP5 and this. It's no contest, I think they improved the original. Besides nostalgia, there's no reason to buy one. Studio lighting is the most recent thing that taught me. For years I tried to nickel and dime a good setup together before finally saying enough is enough and buying really expensive lights. It was an instant game changer and overall I spent more on shoddy solutions than the right ones. Also, yes. No taureses.

@@dangerousfreedom absolutely. You're treating YT as a profession, or at least a professional hobby. Like I said, PTR is a good company and they don't cut corners. They know full well that if they did something to save a nickel here or a dime there it'd cost them a dollar down the road. The one thing about MP5 copies, they're all pretty much clones and with the possible exception of PSA, makers such as PAF, MKE, and PTR use HK tooling. MP5 affecianados will pay a premium. Now if you're buying PSA...pay your money, take your chances...

I don't own a clone, but I'm certain if it filled a niche (& functioned reliably) I'd have zero issues picking one up... I mean, look at PSA's STG-44 coming out later this year, it's not 100% parts compatible with the 80yo original firearm (for ATF reasons & others), but it looks the part & that's good enough for me.
