Aladdin was a good freaking game. One of the games that I remember having to have my mom help me on was the chemical plant zone on Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I really struggled with the moving platforms, leading up to the boss. It was the fact that I suck so bad at the moving platforms on that level that I discovered the infinite lives glitch on that level. Everything else in the game was pretty easy up until the Labyrinth of the Air Fortress.

Lion King was like a lot of games from this era. You had to play them until you had them literally memorized, which could take weeks or months depending on how long it was. The level design was intentionally unfair and unpredictable because that was how they made it challenging. Had the Genesis version. Ostrich jumping sequence hit boxes make no sense. Once you learn the throw move, fighting as an adult Simba is way easier. Also as a kid I never knew you had to roll back the coconuts at the gorilla. I had to go to my local Barnes and Noble to look through gaming magazines to learn that

I beat this game without guides as a kid once on my model 2 genesis and I never felt like doing it ever again. The jank hit boxes drove me crazy on top of the log jumping section at the waterfall level is usually where my playthroughs end.
@michaelsodomora543911 күн бұрын
You don't have to roll back the coconuts. You just have to dodge them + you can't be on the ground when he slams the ground, so you just have to jump when he slams the ground and land on his back. He can't slap you and slam the ground at the same time. That's how I used to do that boss when I was about 10. I used to play through this game practically every weekend on hard. My cousin and my best friend told me it was impossible and I loved proving them both wrong. After you learn all of the patterns it's next to impossible to die except if you hit x and you're too far from Scar to throw him. The Jaguars instantly become able to be thrown off the map if you roar at them and the hyena's have the magic range that you can hit them and they can't hit you. I just think this game got it's reputation from the fact that it requires so much patience. That's something that kids today lack more than back when this game was made. In addition the information about the bugs that heal you, don't and unlock the mini games comes in the book that came with the game. On easy mode you start with max lives and hyenas only take one hit to kill as a cub. On normal difficulty hyenas take 2 hits to kill as a cub and I think you start with 3 lives.
@prismaticpaul8 күн бұрын

Genesis version is actually easier than the SNES version; you jump slightly higher and the platform catch is more forgiving. SNES version has sections that are pure hell because of how janky the platform catch can be (see the part in "Can't Wait To Be King" where you have to jump between the hippo's tails to get to the other side).

The adult simba pounce and punch is a heavy hitter for the hyenas and big cats. Jump on them, hold down and it’ll make a success noise and then you get a few free punches in. I remember starting this game a while back, and going through living hell trying to beat it 💀💀. It was super entertaining watching you also beat this game. Great job on the triumph! :D

I gave up on this game when i was a kid, found out decades later watching a speedrun to finally see it get beat that i had got to the penultimate level. What makes this series so great is the familiarity with old games being janky and unforgiving, but having the sheer will to keep inching closer towards the end playthrough by playthrough. This series would fall apart if it used save states cos it takes away from the experiences we all had with these games growing up. The timer is also great not vos we see how long it took to roll credits, but cos we see how long it takes to get back to where the previous wall was.

Me and a friend had the exact same problem. Could get all the way to the end over and over but if Scar pounced on us it was game over. I threw him off of me once but could never do it again. We finally managed to beat him without getting pounced on. It was a wonderful feeling!

it's a rare case of the source material being required to finish the game.. because you see that move and you go OH that's what he did in the movie
@Ralabougres10 күн бұрын
Same, I had a cracked version on PC so no manual to go with and never managed to find the command to throw enemies despite seeing it on hyenas in the demo sequence running when you afk on title screen. Even worse, if you hit Scar enough, he loses all combativity and basically becomes a vaguely dismissive training dummy. Still couldn't figure out how to end him so I gave up there :/.

I beat the whole game at 8 years old… anyway, whats funny is you can throw scar off the cliff before the final segment and then the game just stays idle until u reset it xD

Such good memories! I haven't thought of this game in ages and just watching you play it reminded me all my "hacks" to beat the game. And at the begining of the video I was thinking "cmon, this is not that hard", but the more I watched, the more I remembered HOW F HARD IT WAS!! I knew the levels pretty well, I could make a speed run and not take a hit. Utill I reach the lava one. The only reason i knew that well the levels was because I didn't know what to do, so i was stuck there for a really long time, and I have to do the entire game till that section. Since my copy was not original, it was comon that you couldn't save your game, so I don't know if this game allows originally you to save your progress. When I beat the lava section, and got to Scar... another problem; didn't know how to beat him! So i spend even more time there but once I discovered how I was so extatic! Now, everytime i played the game, I was determinated to beat it now that I knew how. It was a fun childhood. Thanks for this reminder :)

That was really fun to watch, great editing! I remember really struggling with this game as a kid (and didn’t attempt it again, since I hatet it so much lol) Actraiser 2 is really dope in terms of presentation and mechanics, but considered unbeatable by many. So that would be my recommendation! (Sorry if you’ve already did this one in advance 😅)

I love this plan backfired on their greed. Most people like me rented it once, had zero fun, got super disappointed at the wasted weekend rental, and never touched it again. Not because it was "challenging" or too difficult, but because it simply wasn't fun at all

32:46 it said "SFX", it was a little Easter egg from the Special FX team that animated that shot. Also, the priest in the Little Mermaid, it's his knobbly knee, you can see it before/after the infamous shot, and the son called "take off your clothes" from Aladin is the biggest stretch. There are not enough syllables to even come close to what people are saying it is. You can hear a "go off" or "get off" as he's shooing Raja away, and really it's just "off" that is actually heard clearly, so everyone assumes it's correct.

Hey I subscribed to your channel after seeing this video. It’s really cool that you’re playing these old games the way they would have been played at release. It’s a fun way to re-experience something I remember playing when I was very young, in a way that players using save states don’t capture at all.

I never committed to games, left so many barely touched. Then one day I decided I would finish Skyrim. I finally learned to love games again. It’s because this is the type of game my parents bought me when I was a kid. I swore off them for like 20 years because of this. This video is unlocking memories of levels of this game I made myself forget.

I wasn't very old when I played this game. I couldn't even boot it myself, I had to have my dad help me start it. I remember DOS and a floppy disk. And I had not learned any english yet. But I remember everything. This game was so hard that I only ever beat 1 or 2 levels. And I don't know how I found out that you could cheat to get to the next level, but if you typed "DWARF" on the menu screen, you could skip forward. Besides "yes" and "no", it was the first english word I learned, haha 😂 I got to see all the levels 😅 I am very impressed you beat it. And I understand now why I couldn't as a... 3-5? year old 😵💫

Good memories. Loved playing this game and all the frustrations that came along with it. I never figured out how to throw Scar on purpose, but if you hit him enough times, he runs to the edge and jumps off himself. Took forever though, fighting Scar was def the least fun (and most tedious) part about the game.

Oh this gives me memories. I was a very impatient child and remembering trying over and over again and just rage quitting. I do, however, remember beating the second level at least two times, so that definitely was a plus and got me very excited. Haven’t played it in forever, since the Super Nintendo, where I played it at, is at my big brother’s upstairs. I haven’t gotten it down in my room yet since I have the Wii and PlayStation 2, so I have literally no room. This makes me want to play it again xD. I also remember that my parents bought me this game because I just loved the movie so much.

It took me days as a kid to beat this damn game. My cousin and I spent hours on a weekend passing the controller back and forth trying to beat it till my cousin got so pissed he threw my controller at the TV, then stomped out of my house to go home. (He lived next door) So four or five days later, I finally beat the game and the first thing I did was call my cousin who ran over from next door just in time to catch the last bits of the credits. The look of awe on his face was worth it.

Those good old memories. It took my nephew and I three days to complete the game, besides school, of course at the expense of Friday and the Weekend. 😅 For me, one of the most difficult SNES games from the 90s was Ecco the Dolphin, which is still one of my old favorites, perhaps because my Hungarian compatriots were also involved in the development of the game which I am sincerely proud of.❤
