Hey Lowart! I absolutely love these videos and wanted to give a suggestion on the topic of Mario. You mentioned that Nintendo wasn't afraid to stick a little story into Super Mario Galaxy. Well, another game series I think would be amazing to cover would be the Paper Mario series, specifically Paper Mario, TTYD, and Super Paper Mario. I mention these because they are quite refreshing contrasts to typical Mario games that hold some fun stories that are near and dear to my nostalgic heart.
@Lowart4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion :) I'm currently working on a review series of every Paper Mario game. Right now, I'm making my way through Color Splash, but I have notes and a bit of scripting done for all the games before it. It's still a little ways off, but I'm definitely excited for when I get to release it.

I would _belive_ that the reason the comets work as they do is to add excitement by making it feel like more of a event, with the unexpected appearance of a giant glowing comet, paired with a alarm playing. Why can you move the comet? Well, I think that's an attempt to mend the problem with 100% completing the game, wich would obviously be a problem if it was completely random, with no way to affect it.

The problem with your purple coin concept is that those challenges are almost always very hard (Luigi's Purple Coins, anyone?), so having them appear early like all the other prankster comets would most likely lead to new players trying them out,getting very frustrated, and potentially giving up on the whole game. A good compromise would be having them unlocked alongside the Garden area.

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t like Super Mario Odyssey. It’s not a bad game, but it doesn’t feel as creative as Mario Galaxy. Plus the soundtrack is a bit bland, and it’s WAY to easy. The game doesn’t push you forward and most of the moons come from doing a simple task rather than creative platforming. Mario Odyssey’s limited levels feel very boring to come back to... Galaxy is the opposite of that, which is why I love it. It’s easily my favorite video game.

Authorities say that a local Canadian man was trying to cook dinner while playing "Super Mario Galaxy". This is a very strange thing that we've honestly never heard of. "I don't know, man. "At this point I'm more concerned that I won't be able to beat the game and make a video out of it." We were honestly shocked this was his only concern> But I guess sometimes it honestly just be like that. "So what are you going to do about your house?" I asked him trying to see his true priorities. "Man I'll just buy a new one with all that KZbin money I make." he stated. But somehow I'm not sure it's the truth. I grew up with this game too, and I hate that I allowed myself to have my opinion manipulated by my peers at the time. Back then, it was pretty easy to shit on Nintendo games for being too childish, or saying that Mario games were all the same/ never innovated or did anything interesting. It's very clear that Nintendo goes above and beyond when it comes to making games, even if they're well-established franchises.

I want to say that Mario galaxy was ahead of its time, but thats not really true. Recent games are evolving, just backwards (unless you play god of war :3)
@megasoniczxx4 жыл бұрын
Super Mario Galaxy has always been one of those games that I wish I could like but I can't. One reason for that is because of Mario's movement, it isn't bad, in fact it's probably as good as it was ever going to get for a game like this but it just feels boring especially when you're fresh off 64 and sunshine which not only have movement with more flow to them but also let's you use all of that in combination to glide through levels and the way you approach those levels changes over time because your knowledge of the movement mechanics greatly affects how you play them. The second is that while I can acknowledge that the levels themselves are well designed they feel very rigid in the way that they are designed and to be fair this is how I feel about a lot of the mario platformers after this one sans Odyssey. I t's just a very hard game for me to get into and it sucks because every time I look at this game I want to play it and then when I play it I want to immediately play something else.
@MrMarinus183 жыл бұрын
The difference is that 64 and Sunshine are much faster and tighter in animation while Galaxy is pretty lose. The jump and fall speeds in Galaxy are also really slow. However with all the tricky platforming and awkward angles that is kind of needed. Having controls like Sunshine would just make Galaxy very exhausting and frustrating since just one wrong press or one wrong move will get you killed. Since you're platforming at weird angles it isn't instantly obvious what direction to press so they made the controls more lose and forgiving to compensate.
@jaretco6423 Жыл бұрын
Personally, I didn't mind Galaxy's control being an little slow paced cause I found the controls in Galaxy alot tighter than 64 & Sunshine. It's more responsive, the execution u can do works nice, the motion controls works great and the levels don't always demand to be more precise & the way it's design holds up well. Whereas in 64 & Sunshine it's completely opposite. Yeah. The movements is faster. But it doesn't make the controls or platforming designs any better. They're so janky & slippery, the camera is awful, the physics & collision on platforming is off and the levels themselves don't always blend well because of how piss poor the design choices were. Sometimes you'll be running into things u weren't supposed to do and u don't stop after jumping. You'll just move up to like 3 feet in which can cause you to fall off or get hit by and that isn't good design. I think Odyssey does it the best in terms of how an fast paced controls in an open sandbox/collecthon 3D Mario game works. But even that has it's own issues from an different topics. So yeah. Sorry, but I don't agree.

I’m really glad to hear a more objective take on Galaxy after hearing EVERYONE praise this game to death. I’m not a big fan of Galaxy mainly because of the gripes pointed out in this video. It has its strengths of course I agree with that, but the negatives really big down the experience for me. I really agree here with the improvements that could’ve been made, like having more exploration in levels and A LOT less expository dialogue before levels. Kills the pace, changing that would be a big game changer.
@callinater61333 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I feel exploration is when galaxy is at its worst. Mario’s moveset in galaxy isn’t built around getting around large explorable areas. It simply wouldn’t be as fun as sunshine or 64 which had more versatile movesets. Galaxy’s more stripped back and tighter controls fit linear platforming challenges better imo.
