I remember here in Philly former nfl player Johnny Sample had a sports radio show on Saturdays & he would rave about this dude named "Air McNair" who played at an HBCU he urged all of his listeners to go on BET & watch those black college football games..i know the ratings probably went thru the roof

Steve McNair averaged 527.18 Passing YPG as a Senior. That was *Unthinkable* back then. Now, it's considered normal with seemingly every college football program running some form of the spread offense/Air Raid.

He averaged 442 passing yards per game and 85 rushing yards per game so he was averaging 527 total yards per game. He was literally a one man offense

Not really. Even in the most fast paced Air Raid offense no QB could get those numbers. McNair was unique and seeing him play in college was something else. Every quarterback to this day owes some respect to him, for he proved guile and athleticism and “intangibles” are worth as much as height and arm strength.

I was at that game and it was awesome! The four years McNair was at Alcorn the teams were very evenly matched except for one thing. Alcorn had Superman, we didn't! RIP Steve McNair!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

It was moreso injuries man. Injury will make a coward out of the strongest. And playing ball for all those years taking all those hits is naturally gonna slow you down and having his size in the NFL helped him, he was durable, harder to tackle and dude would only get off the field if he was carried off.

He would have been better if he didn't have to play for Jeff Fisher all those years handing the ball to Eddie George 300 times a year. Steve still won an MVP playing for Fisher. Imagine that.

He didn't lose mobility he just didn't have many targets the first half of his career but when he got some he started to run less or only when he needed to oh and a MVP award. Steve was never slow my man madden just takes ur speed down if u don't run as much plus he had 9 surgeries on his throwing arm.
