Here are some Easter Eggs from the new series that launched two years back: Yes, Rogar did increase his intelligence with that pen. However, for some reason he only raised it from 4 to 5. Really impressed with the cinematography. Camera-placement is super important to making something in a visual medium look and feel interesting and I'm glad that the number of types of shots was not kept small. In particularly the dynamic placement of the camera within the cramped quarters of the game room definitely lent the film a cozier sense. Clearly there would be no time or staff for toying with the color-grading, so I'm glad we got some good camera-placement. The acting was also really quite nice. The comedic-timing really nailed "The Shadow?!" running gag.

Drizzt Do'Urden is an inside joke amongst D&D players because so often people end up rolling a Dark Elf Ranger and the most shameless of them all pick (dual) scimitars for their weapons as well. The only way it could be even more true is if they somehow had access to one fire and one ice scimitar. Lots of Drizzt ripoffs in gaming. Hence the joke.

A buddy of mine showed me this film after he and another friend of ours both shouted. "The shadow!?" We sat around the table trying to be our evil characters, which ended up only being pathetic evil, as we failed even the most minute details of our plan. At a critical moment our thief hid and just snuck into the house we were attempting to get into. Alarmed that we were to be betrayed by this cunning rogue, the party left the vicinity and went back to our underground lair in the very same city. Preparing our defences. Unbeknownst to our stealthy guy in the shadows that we abandoned him to basically die at the hands of the rich lord living there and his retinue, he kept pushing further in an attempt to murder the lord in his sleep. When he finally entered the lord's chamber, our DM told us that the lord was not sleeping. The lord sat in his chair, expecting us to break down his door. At this moment the player who played the rogue gasped and repeated that line of horrified surprise, joined by a gleeful DM. That was about when they first released anything from this series, almost 19 years ago. Way, way, way back in the days... just so long ago. We don't roll dice together anymore. I miss them... fuck.
