I bought a Fenix 6 Pro question, have you ever tried the marine maps ?? the garmin web site says that the VEU722L-Europe Atlantic Coast and VEU723L-Southern Europe work on the Fenix 6 Pro. but they are both g3 Vision and are around £350 and cover a large area, looks like you can get BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision, the g3 is cheeper (less stuff on the maps, but I can't see half the Vision stuff working on the watch anyway) also you can get 'smaller' area BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision maps for a lot less. Anyone know any thing about the marine maps, there must be loads of people that sail inland lakes and rivers, that have bought the Fenix 6 as a cheap chartplotter alternative

WiFi is actually used to sync the music. I’m not aware of a way to do that without WiFi. Pretty solid review man! I enjoy your content.

This was the best tutorial about the Fenix 6! Mine was behaving a bit strangely and just tried to access music when I pressed the Down button. Great tips about the Data views and getting alternative maps. I'm just getting started with my new Fenix 6S and am a bit overwhelmed. (PS - you have wonderful eyes! :) )

I really like this device but wouldn't it be nice if you were able to go through all these settings via PC or Mac using the Garmin connect app then syncing the watch to the app. It seems a bit labor intensive using the device only to set up initially.

Lots of great advice here. I'm new to the Garmin and just bought my Fenix so the tips are very welcome! Didn't even know there was a middle menu button. Unfortunately, my only criticism is that for a complete newbie like myself you've not explained satisfactorily where the settings are, I've had to spend a few minutes to figure it out which isn't impossible but that assistance would have been welcome for somebody not familiar with Garmin watches. Other than that, this video is super helpful, thank you!

I had the emergency feature activated. One day I rode over a big pump and leaned down to check my chain hadn't come off. The watch thought I had fallen off and started to phone my contact. It does give you a chance to cancel it before it dials. Which I did. I was impressed it had worked.

Nice summary guide John. Garmin battery estimates are a bit deceptive. For the Va4 it gives this: Battery life: up to 8 days in smartwatch mode; up to 6 hours in GPS and music mode. You are not going to get 8 days if you also use 6 hours GPS/music and have other things enabled (notifications, etc...). But, the way they phrase it, I read that as you can have both as they put it in the same sentence.

Thanks for the review. Is the Fenix 6 capable of doing off-trail navigation from one waypoint to another? I am referring to the Garmin's Foretrex 601's ability to use "Turns." That is the GPS will tell you to turn either left or right by so many degrees to be on course and show you a compass face at the same time.

Great video ... I just got the Fenix 6 Sapphire after I lost my Fenix 5. The reason I lost it was that the quick fit connection came undone while I was windsurfing and my Fenix 5 is now somewhere at the bottom of a lake. Do you know if there are any wrist bands for sale without the quick fit system? Would appreciate some input.

A late reply (I've only just bought my Fenix 6x Sapphire)... You would be able to use a NATO-style strap with the Fenix 6 after removing the stock one. A well-known online retailer sells some that would be suitable that don't use the Garmin quick fit system but do require unscrewing the pins on the watch to fit the strap. Just make sure you get the correct width for your model.

A good informative video. The problem is only that when you say keep your profile updated. My rest heart rate has been 30 for 8-9 months now, every morning i have to go in and set the rest heart rate to use average. The useless software team at Garmin is aware of this, but seems unfortunately unable to correct the problem.

Here’s a question, if lets say you bought a fenix 6 in china and it just has china maps on the maps of the watch when you connect via Garmin connect on the laptop it shows all maps for the world, upon updating it to the watch it says on laptop all maps have been updated yet when you go into the watch it just shows china maps and ski maps (as before) - any advice on how to get the rest of the maps to show on the watch??

agentice007 I bought my Fenix 5Splus in Hong Kong (at the Garmin Brand Store). When I set up my Garmin I got to choose the region of maps I wanted to download on my Garmin. Your first choice is free. Any additional map region you have to pay for. I chose North America if I want to have Europe as a region in addition I have to pay for it.

Does anyone know if the Fenix 6x sapphire come with a "factory installed screen protector" ? When i run my nail across the glass right where it meets the bezel i feel a 0.5 mm gap of sorts and it feels that i could pull the screen protector off the glass.. not sure if it is some sort of glass coating or if it indeed is a "screen protector". Funny thing is even the customer care folks at Garmin are not aware of it (though they confirmed that they encounter that gap between the glass and bezel as well.

Does anyone know if there's a way to change the Auto Pause detection/reaction interval? Unless you specific a longer "Custom" interval, it takes about eight seconds to "realize" I've stopped or started, which is annoying, as that yields an accurate measure of certain activities where you may be making frequent, but short stops (such as dog walking, lawn mowing with a walk-behind, or photography). It would be much better if it paused after a second or two of stopping or starting! One can of course manually start/stop, but this is a PITA and it's too easy to forget or not have time to hit the button. How about a firmware update, Garmin?

How much will this watch sync with iPhone. I use starva and the Activity app. Will it sync with these or does it not need to sync with the Activity app as Garmin may have its own equivalent. Cheers

I owned the Apple watch 1 and 3 and sold them within a month of so of owning both, Fenix is in another league for fitness stuff. I use the course feature and follow maps, when comple, it uploads it directly to Strava for you, but also logs it in it's own feature on number of steps, activity etc. I do not think your Apple activity is compatible
