There was a sequel where the kid with the glasses comes back, same actor and all, finds one, and he keeps it, but he had to keep it in a cage, and it had the power to grant wishes, however if I remember correctly, the wishes always corrupted the soul, and it had a way of backfiring. This sequel was one of those quiet sequels that not many knew about.
