cool pedal, tone sounds a tad darker when on, but they all do that , a different colour led when gated would be a nice addition.

@@b.scottfarthingsworth that's why I've never kept a gate on my board, never find one that does it all. Even the infamous ISP Decimator. 😑

For the tone test, I’d be curious to hear your tone without the g8 plugged in at all. Because even when my ISP isn’t turned on, it’s still affecting my tone if it’s in my signal chain.

What is really the right place to put your nose gate. I see them put before the over drive and distortion pedals and after the overdrive distortion pedals. I always have my tuner pedal first no matter what. Going to do a little playing around with different line ups.
@Owlun
@Owlun 2 жыл бұрын
+Ryanriffs_13 I run a gate right before the input of my amp on fairly subtle settings and I run a gate in my loop, also with fairly subtle settings. I found with a 6505 that one gate in either the loop or the front still leaves some excess noise (especially running a boost pedal). I've tried one gate doing the four cable method, but I still wasn't really content with the results.

@firdeye2681
@firdeye2681 2 жыл бұрын
From what I gather people don't like the ns2 because it rolls off top end or makes their tone "different". ISP seems more natural. Again just what I've read, I don't even own a noise gate yet.
@lucamoqi
@lucamoqi 2 жыл бұрын
@@firdeye2681 well, I guess those people can't hear that well, 'cause the NS-2 has got a buffer in it, which removes the top end roll off from long cable runs. That being sad, the ISP is definitely more natural and precise at the same time. I wish Fluff showed the G8 in a four cable method, though

it's not convenient, but for live use, i've never found a single gate to do the trick. always 2. one first, one in the loop. 2 medium gates seems to always beat one set to high. and i can still get feedback if i want it.

Do u switch one (or both) off for lead or clean? the gate world is interesting..seems annoying to have 2 but heard lots of people do it. So a g8 of Zuul+ with 4cable method in loop & front doesn’t do what 2 separate gates do?
@xsonicassassinx
@xsonicassassinx 2 жыл бұрын
@@sheldonwright8770 no lead work in my band. I run all of that in pod/HX. If I had to do it analog it would be 2 decim8 pedals. One first, one in the loop before time based effects.

I'm actually hunting for a gate, so it's between the G8 and the Decimator plus. I would prefer the Decimator rack unit only because I run 3 amps simultaneously and gain stack usually 2 overdrives, a Nu-tube screamer and a Zakk Wylde overdrive or my Anniversary SD1. Kinda tough choice.

I have a decimator 2 g string and don't care for it. When it is set to just where it kills the noise I can hear the noise ramp up just as I hit a note. If I turn it up higher it cuts notes off too much. Is this a better option since it gives more control?
