The Gateway South Project is aiming to make St. Louis a hub for the construction industry. The project will redevelop an area south of the arch downtown. The project will use the historical buildings instead of tearing them down.

I love the idea of resto-modding old buildings into restorative development plans with fresh up-to-code services and utilities. 🙂

Fully support this. I live in Kansas City now and hate watching this city grow and grow while St. Louis is stagnant. Would LOVE to see this take off, and hopefully spurn more development and get more people living downtown or commuting there and get more lights on! Now if we could just get a buyer on the AT&T building and remodel the old Millenium / Clarion hotel building. It takes steps like this to jumpstart - big investments. We need capitalism to be allowed to work. Drive development and have growth, and thus, a tax base to fund more cops, better roads...etc.. The cool thing is a lot of these buildings in the south riverfront are awesome. Remodeling and repurposing them will be exciting, much better than brand new. Our architecture is some of the best in the country and a lot of it still remains. Can't wait to see this - I'll spend my money there!

I've lived in both St Louis and Chicago ,St Louis by far is more hip and fun, Chicago was just a bunch of old glorified Canadians in cubs hats

What impact would this development have on St. Mary of Victories Hungarian Catholic Church?
@Dozenspeed8 ай бұрын
It shouldn't have any directly, as it is supposed to be protected under historical structure laws, as are I think four of the Crunden Martin buildings, which is why they have to restore them versus leveling the place. 🙂

Historic preservation laws are generally incentives rather than laws, except where local historic district guides protect (even then it's a fine rather than worse).@@Dozenspeed

The City of St.Louis is losing population as usual.
@scottsinger71106 ай бұрын
St. Louis will continue to lose population for awhile but it will turn around. Lots of development but it's a slow moving political scene that keeps it from growing.
@stldweller6 ай бұрын
@@scottsinger7110 I doubt it will ever grow unless they turn it into an immigratioon assylum like Chicago.

That's why we should support stuff like this. Financial opportunity brings money.

St.Louis needs to start voting republican if they want to turn things around.
