I have used a bumper pull gen y torsion flex hitch for 5 years. It is the best riding hitch hands down! Anyone who states differently definitely hasn't ridden in a truck while towing using one. It does reduce driver fatigue like they state. I recommend purchasing one, it'll be worth the purchase.

I've been looking at that coupler for a long time now but just can't bring myself to paying that much money. I know they are supposed to ride a lot better but that's a lot for a hitch. I agree with you on the pin latch. Would definitely like an auto latch coupler.

So very true. That's a lot of money for supposedly a better ride. The truck and trailer booth have a good suspension on top of that. As a welder by trade there is less than $300.00 in steel there. I know you have to make a profit but $1000.00 for a hitch is a bit much.

JD, I love the torsion flex on that hitch but I think I would have the very same concern you do about the hitch pin. First off that doesn't seem to make me feel as confident in pulling it as the locking mechanism. Now, in all honesty, I have forgotten to connect the latch enough times on horse trailers and even my own RV that the auto latch feature seems like a no brainer to me. But I also like the wide mouth opening that funnels the ball to the center on the bulldog. There isn't any room for error in that ball mount. For people like my father who doesn't have a camera in the bed of his truck and can't turn his head far enough to see behind him he has to have great directions or get in and out several times and has to get it almost perfect. I got him a Bulldog for both of his horse trailers but he still has a flat bed with the pin connect and he is constantly looking for the pin. It just seems to find a way to be left out or misplaced. But like I said, love the cushion that the torsion flex offers. That is really cool!!! Pat

How does this affect the ball set up on your truck? I would think that since all the weight is actually behind the hitch point instead of above it there would be a constant side load on the ball. Would this increase wear on the ball or affect your towing capacity?

Remember the ball is still the pivot point. That weight is directly above the axle.

I have a 30,000 lb gooseneck for my 450. For legal weight I have to use the 3 inch ball. Also have a 4 inch square receiver. Do the make anything that works with that set up?

It's simple really. Lippert (LCI) is the exclusive distributor of the goose box. They make money on every goosebox sale. It's the sole reason all other gooseball type hitches will void the warranty and will never be approved, only the goosebox. It's all about shafting the customer both out of choices as well as it gives them an easy out to deny any warranty claim.

You are not correct. Amazon, etrailer, and a dozen other places sell and distribute the goose box. Lippert approved the goose box which is manufactured by Reese on their frames because it passed a rugged course designed Navistar to test pin boxes and RV frames. Also, the Goosebox is not an option or standard on any RV (that I know of). LCI would much rather push their Rotoflex or Trailaire brands

My guess is that due to the cost it wasn't widely accepted in the RV industry. While working with Coachmen, I found that they did not want to install it because it limited their ability to have their units towed to dealerships, since the overwhelming number of RVs use a traditional pinbox and their hotshot fleets are equipped with Fifth Wheel hitches.

Not because they cant pass lci closed test but because they dont make money from it. What better way to increase sales then to say by putting any competing product on our frame will void its warranty?
