What's up guys, I'm here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the Gen-Y Pegasus Shock Absorbing Gooseneck Coupler. So, this is gonna be set apart from all the other ones that we have, just because we have some shock absorbing technology on the inside here. This is gonna make for a lot smoother ride. So, all the chucking that you feel whenever you're going down the road, basically, that's just when a lot of the surges go from your trailer into your truck and you feel it in the cab. It's not really something you'd like to feel, especially on those longer trips, but also with porpoising, basically what that is, is whenever you're kinda hitting bumps on the road, your nose end of your truck kinda starts going up and down.
It's not necessarily something that you want. And it's just gonna limit all that shock from transferring from your trailer to your truck. Basically, this is just gonna give you a lot smoother ride, and it's gonna be a lot easier on your trailer and all of your trucks components. So, I am gonna go over some of the nitty gritty details, but not yet. What I wanna do is just show you what this thing really does, really gonna see this thing kind of start to torsion out and start to flex and absorb a lot of that shock.
So, let's just show you because the footage is gonna do a justice. So we went ahead and took this thing through our test scores. And if you guys look right here, you'll see how it's really flexing. So, I wish you guys we're in the cab with me. I have driven a lot of different gooseneck and with airbags on the back, it's usually really, really rough.
But as that flex starts to happen, it really doesn't transfer a lot of that shock in there. It felt super buttery, whenever I was going over the speed bumps and we went over a lot of them. So it's kind of an extreme case here at etrailer with our test scores, but you can 100% feel it and you could see it too. So, let's take a look the component that really gives us that flex that you saw in the footage. So basically what's going on here and all of these different sections, we're gonna have a circular inner tube, and then, there's gonna be a square outer tube.
And then in between those, there's gonna be a cylinder shaped different pieces of rubber. And basically as the circular cylinder starts to kinda try to rotate, it starts to kinda push on that rubber. And that rubber is really what's giving us that shock absorbing feature for this specific type of coupler. So, that's really kind of how it works, but you can really to see it in the footage. And I can definitely feel it up there in the cap. And it's gonna give us about one and 1130 seconds inch of a travel. And right here is where we're gonna measure that travel. So, as of right now, we're, you know, we're just sitting right close to the max, but not enough. This is as heavy as the trailer's gonna get. So, if we did hop up to a larger one, it might bring us out of our range. So, we wanna make sure we're gonna be putting enough load on it, to where we can get that flex. Cause if we grab a 5.5K, it's probably gonna be really close to the minimum, if not in the breadth, which then we're not even gonna put it under enough load to really get the benefits from the coupler. We have three different options for the Pegasus and it's gonna be a 3.5k, we have it right here, a 4.5k and a 5.5K. While you guys are wondering how to figure out which one's best for you. Well, what we can do, is we can just take our gross trailer weight with all the stuff loaded in it. What we could do, is take 15 to 25% of that gross trailer weight. And that's gonna kinda give us a rough idea of what our pin weight is gonna be. Once you figure out the pin weight, basically just take that and times it by two, the pin weight is 2000, times by two, it's 4000. So, we should probably go with the 4.5 K. And the reason why we want to do that is we get the most out of our shock absorbing gooseneck coupler, when it's using 50% of that tongue weight. So, that's something kinda think about, if you get in that sweet spot, we're gonna reap the benefits fully to this whole entire setup. So, you saw it perform on our test scores and we told you how to find out which one's gonna be best for you. So what do you get Well, what we're gonna get is we are gonna get a pin. It does not come with the locking core. I highly recommend grabbing the locking core. And you can find that here in etrailer. And we are gonna have a tube, diameter of four inches. So just make
