Note: I would recommend installing a hook or bolt to secure the cable latch open when decoupling. Also, even though this does not address chains and breakaway connections, it's far easier to reach those from the side standing on the tires since those connections are in the center of the truck.

Big Truck Big RV i found that it’s easier for me to hook up my safety changes after I pull the trailer to a near 90° turn then I have access to the bed from the tailgate easier.

I used a Bluetooth remote setup for my dump trailer. That’d be a real slick setup for moving it around. Not even have to get out of the truck.

I know that would also help save you if the ground is wet/muddy/icy because I've broken a couple ribs trying to hookup to my flatbed during pecan season to haul a load to wholesaler when my foot slipped on the wet muddy tire I was standing on and I fell on the side of my dually bed We have one sorta like it on our camper that fits a filth wheel hookup, so this would be great 👍🏻

Bulldog is the way to go. What you didn't point out is how with the bulldog you don't have to be as exact on center as compared to the one you took off because it will funnel the ball to the center. If you noticed your trailer moved slightly as it slid on the ball. When you are connecting to a trailer with a load already on or a generally heavy horse trailer the flat plate will just rest on the ball and it won't slide on. I like Bulldog because it allows for a greater margin of error when aligning your truck to the trailer. I think you're going to like this one much better. Pat

When reinstalling a gooseneck coupler you hook up to trailer first before tightening set bolts this allows the weight to be on pin rather then the bolts and what's the point of the coupler???? you still have to do the safety chains and the emergency brake away

Here is one thing I’m curious of I have nearly the same trailer as you only mine is 2 feet shorter but I load mine up to it’s max capacity or close to it and when in tow I get a big unstable pushing against my truck from the trailer if you ever get the chance to really load that trailer up I’d like to see a video of it and how it behaves

Really what difference does it make if you gotta climb into the bed? You have to hook the chains anyways.

The chains come off to the sides, which I found was easier to reach from the sides of the truck standing on my tire. The center latch was easy enough to lock, but getting it unlocked was the challenge (due to the spring tension).

Hey JD super nice rig I'm also jealous lol but on a more serious note I'm in the market for a new 1/2 ton I have owned all three in the past Chevy Ford and Dodge last truck was a Chevy and I am leaning towards the 6.2 Trail Boss i am not ruling out a Ford either would have to be a 5.0 I've heard not good about the EcoBoost if you are in the market for a half ton what would be your choice I appreciate you brother I'm always watching.

Is that B&W ball rated to connect the safety chains to the handle that’s on that ball? It’d be really convenient if it is.

It's not. I wouldn't suggest that EVER since if the cable got caught and pulled the release lever, you could intentionally disconnect the ball from the truck. Would be a rare occurrence, buy possible.

The B&W ball set up is 2-5/16" that is the standard ball size for almost all Gooseneck trailers.

Hello! Faithful follower here. A lot of what you show is realistically out of my price range. However, do love to day dream. And truly do value your opinions and experience. And you really have thought me a lot. In my search for a new travel trailer. Brand new units, that have not been off the dealer lot. Notice an excessive amount of rust on the trailer frames and suspensions. Being I do collision work for a living. This can be no other than a poorly prepped frame at either paint or powder coat process. In your opinion, is there a brand of trailer. Or price point at which the quality control is better?I was looking at units within the 30k and under category. And have been shocked! Frankly put off by what I have seen. Granted it can be sanded, cleaned and repainted. But who wants to do that when they just bought a new unit. As always, your opinion is valued. Thanks

I know you are selling the hitch but the welds on the neck of the trailer are not filled out and the neck looks under built. It may hold forever but looks weak to me.
