I did the BT flash on my 23 about 5 weeks ago. I just got back from a 6500 mile trip pulling a Bushtec trailer and it was great to have the extra power and torque especially at high altitudes! I am very pleased and it is very noticeable. Money well spent for me! You can't have too much power!!

Appreciate all of your content Rich… telling it like it is! I’ve rode sport bikes my entire life with no regrets… but as life goes on and grand kids allow you to see a different perspective on things, the straight through growls of a inline four crotch rocket at 173 mph on an open highway just doesn’t make sense! But the hum of my 2023 Honda Goldwing manual with Shark Road exhaust… Bru I am okay!

I just bought a 2024 goldwing. I am in my mid 60's and still have a buch of sport bikes. This thing is pretty fast and is only limited in the cornering clearance and top speed limiter. My son was behind me on my zh2 supercharged bike and coming out of a round about I was able to twist the throttle all the way open and he had a little trouble catching me because the bike couldnt put the power down as fast as the goldwing could. He was very surprised how fast it could go through that corner. I also raced agsinst his built twin cam Harley limited that puts down 120hp to the wheel and he couldn't keep up.

Thanks for the video. I have yet to see a negative comment on the BT-Moto tune. Most that I have seen that have done it say it was well worth the money, just do it. A friend of mine just did it on his 2018 manual and in the one test ride he did after the tune he called me and just said WOW, what a difference. Needless to say, I ordered one for my 2021 manual. Unfortunately, the ODB2 cables are on back order so who knows when I'll get it. Those that have done the tune say it's not just the top speed, but throttle response is much smoother, and Sport mode is no longer twitchy. I've owned two Harley's and did tunes on both of them. I'm an HP and torque junkie, give me as much as I can handle and afford. Great video.

23 DCT tour wing rider here. I’m seriously considering making a switch to harley. The reason is not about equipment provided standard or performance. it is about (1) ability to customise and make it unique and more importantly (2) fit me. Only 1 option to raise/move handlebars which costs arm and a leg. no option to move foot pegs either. Almost zero aftermarket parts here in UK. While you may need to spend quite a bit of money to do all that customisation on a Harley, you pay that money Honda up front - for their preferences, not riders. (Goldwing is around £32K and 24 model touring Harley £27K in UK ) While saying “Honda gives you everything you need” one should mention that price difference and the ease of customising the bike yourself as well.
@richthereturnrider67373 ай бұрын
Can’t disagree with the customization of the HD. Definitely more options than the Goldwing. Here in the US more shops. Making it yours is what it’s all about. I’m 5-10, if I was a tall rider would definitely consider a HD. Go for it. All of today’s bikes are awesome. Can’t go wrong.

Wondering why Honda didn't unleash the power and usability makes me hesitant, were they having mechanical reliability issues and they dialed it back? I don't know and only they know. I guess we'll find out on the future when everyone is putting the milage.

No manufacturer gives you optimal performance. Regulations, emission standards restricts. They are certain vehicles that would not make it here in the US.

Agree with you my brother Robert. We risk a lot when we throw our legs over these beautiful and beastly machines but at the end of the day they are performance machines. The restrictions doesn’t minimize the dangers of them. How and what we chose to do with them is what the bigger concern is. None of us that ride motorcycles are risk adverse. We take calculated risks once we ride. I am a performance guy but do try to minimize the risk as much as possible. This is a multi purpose motorcycle and I believe is great for all ages as the other brands. I applaud you for enjoying it for what it is but it offers a lot more to so many more.

Rich you are poetry in motion. Passion filled. When you get a hold of something you break it down. Analyze, theorize, rationalize and soon it will materialize. You are so right about performance is the hallmark of Honda Gold Wing. This newest generation is absolutely a Sport Tourer! Things evolve and improve as humans seek to improve and not settle for mere base line performances. These humans separate the wheat from the chaff. The nectar from the fruit. This is where the sweetness lives. No limits. Reach for it Rich. Reset that performance bar. Enjoy the process. I do. Products improve as a result and the community gains something from these achievements. Best to you & Lorna.

Talking about poetry in motion, that’s you RG. Way to break it down. Honda makes performance, from formula one to Indy cars to Moto gp. They set the benchmark in performance and reliability. The Goldwing is no different. The gold standard, the gold medalist of the Sports Touring world an d I am now on board. No more mention of those other brands. Enjoying the full capabilities of this machine is my mission. Both Lorna and I thank you brother. Ride safe.

While your first reaction might be to laugh, my Kawasaki W800 has something in common with your GoldWing (my dream bike!). Unfortunately, that commonality is the absence of aftermarket tuning parts. I shouldn't say unfortunately, because in a number of ways, it's actually a very good thing. The two things that I can get for my bike, easily, is an aftermarket exhaust system and a power commander with a custom tune. I investigated this and decided not to proceed. I'm taking the time here to explain why as it's something that you might want to be aware of (or not) when considering a tune as an option for your bike. There is no doubt about it, the tune for the W800 flattened out the power and torque curve of the bike and it added a couple of bhp. and a couple of ft.lbs. of torque all the way through the curve. And high up in the rev range, it piled on the power and the torque. All good things, you'd have to say, and I would agree. So why didn't I follow through? Firstly, I rarely venture into the upper rev range of the bike and when I do, it's mainly downshifting for more engine braking and occasional overtaking, but for the roads that I ride on, the latter isn't much of a consideration. Secondly. While the tune on the W800 flattens out the torque curve, would I ever notice it. The torque curve is already a work of art from a tuning perspective. There just aren't any perceptible "hiccups". And it's only picking me up 2 or 3 horsepower throughout the rev range that I typically ride in...2k-5.5k. Thirdly. It was all going to cost a lot of money. I'm in Australia so I'll convert for US dollars. My bike cost about $5,500 US. A set of pipes, which aren't easy to come by, the tuner and time at a tuning shop was going to add another $2k UD to that. That's about $1000 per hp, the way I operate the bike. If it were a third of that cost, I would have gone there, but it wasn't. This all brings me to my ultimate point. Squiggly lines on a piece of paper or a computer monitor can be scaled in such a fashion that barely perceptible gains look much bigger than they are. I'm not suggesting that this is deliberate, but it's something to be aware of. Read the numbers, don't look at the lines. Everybody only looks at the lines! Be the one that looks at the numbers and interpret them as how they will most likely relate to your riding style. At the end of the day, your tuning man is a seller. You're the customer. Caveat Emptor. I've just proof read my post and I can see that it would be easy to interpret as being negative toward the tune. Don't take it as that at all! I'm just trying to encourage you to think outside the box and with a bit better perspective. Hopefully a tune can add a lot to your bike. Best wishes and good luck from Down Under.
@richthereturnrider67375 ай бұрын
Great stuff and fully appreciate your perspective. In your case and at that cost I to wouldn’t do it. The dyno shop that I intend to use is local with no skin in the game. $75 dollars just to peak my curiosity on the numbers. I am aware that doing the pre and post on different day with different conditions can skew the numbers but oh well. Hopefully a shop that isn’t affiliated with BT MOTO would not manipulate the numbers. Great stuff. Thanks for watching and that insightful comment. Ride safe.

Thanks for the shout-out Rich 😉 I'm 56 years old and a hard rider on or off-road... I use this this gen6 Wing for touring with my wife and an occasional solo rip. The majority of my road routes are on the back and secondary roads, I actually dislike highway riding and stay off them as much as possible. So I use the Wing exactly like a "sport-tourer" and its fantastic in this role comfortable, nimble and powerful. That said, the BT Moto flash as totally enhanced my riding experience on the Goldwing. The bike responds better, is smoother on and off the throttle and has more power over the full(expanded) rpm range. I run in Tour mode 95% of my riding because it works so well. Sport mode is just a hoot now, its not the jerky, unusable, chassis upsetting mess it was stock, BT Moto's tune unleashed the full aggressiveness of the engine without ruining the Wing's ride-ability😎. I was on tour at the end of June in those 100+ degree temps fully loaded with my wife aboard, we rode 2200 miles, the Wing never flinched or missed a beat. I got 42-43mpg riding hard and passing a lot😁 For me I don't care what dyno #'s are, I'm only concerned with how the bike runs and feels. There is no doubt a BT Moto tuned Goldwing is far better optimized vs. stock. Whoa! that's a lot of blabbing ..,🤣but you got a free preview of my final review video. Well I've got to go I'm dropping the Wing off for the fuel pump recall this morning.

The power is way enough for a pure touring bike as the wing. Everyone must remember, this bike is NOT a sport bike. Its designed by Honda to perform AS a Touring machine. Thank you for this video.

Thank you for watching and understand it’s not for everyone. It’s a multipurpose motorcycle. For you it’s a touring motorcycle but I believe Honda meant it to be a Sports Touring motorcycle.
