Of all the moments in this drama, this scene - for me is the most heart-breaking of all, she lost her heartbeat but never her promise to safeguard their Love deep in her Soul where it would never die. Yet she found the strength to go on and be beside the Emperor , not the one she loved- but was very fond of and that secret she would never let him know. A hard and lonely road to travel. Too very different renditions on a story with few details or hard facts to tell us what really happened . We know the First Empress died, how or why , no details, It was said she was beloved of the Emperor, but what did that really mean? He could not forget her after her death- was it true Love or guilt that drove his obsession to idolize her. The Second Empress was given by his mother, an intelligent girl with a razor sharp wit and guts to take chances, but why did strive to get his attention, what was motive? She obtained the highest rank, but what happened to destroy that bond, she cut her hair and was banished , dying just a year later. How she died, pretty sure the new love of the Emperor had something to do with it, but that did not seem to bother him, he would have known or at least suspected. He destroyed her legacy, none of her 3 children survived so she seemed to just vanish from history. Again, Why ? I think because no woman would ever hold his heart, an Emperor must learn early to trust no one and a female was to satisfy his lust and bear sons , real love was never given to children who were pawns in power struggles, a daughter is sold off to make a treaty or act as a spy. A son so vital soon becomes a rival to the one sitting on the throne. Children were not immune to the darkness that surrounded them. How then can a man understand empathy, respect and self- sacrifice for another. He can't. How often do we not appreciate the treasure until the moment we lose it.

The Fuca clan were really something. His sister said why stop half way when agreeing to marry Erquin?? I guess a tragedy only happens when there is no solution. I think I remember Cornwallis lost men being near bogs which reduced his resources leading to his defeat. General Fuca won before attrition took a toll? But regardless, this epic is quite a tour de force for the cast particularly for the female cast.
