1:54 I think that’s kinda disingenuous to say. For 1, Lost World, Colors, and Forces all didn’t follow that pattern as none of them necessarily centered around the collection of the chaos emeralds 2. Generations and Frontiers handle their uses of the emeralds differently. Generations kinda just has you connect them throughout the game as it doesn’t really have much of a narrative. It’s mostly just collecting them for the plot. In Frontiers, Sonic directly says how the emeralds were drawn to the starfall islands which sets in motion the story for the game. And even then their use in the game is for Sonic to stand a chance against the titans but it isn’t the center of the story (that being the ancients and discovering what happened to them)

I get your point. You're totally right, I've been getting many comments like yours. I realized that I made many mistakes in this video but that's why I say some games, perhaps the ones I listed weren't good ones, but I just meant the formula was the same, not necessarily the story-telling, many people corrected me on that. Bro, yea you ain't wrong, ngl as tho many people don't like Sonic 06, I personally enjoyed that story. It's just now sonic games don't feel as dark as they used to, like the world was at stake, now its kinda happy and all "yea we did it". Only game I'll give an exception to is frontiers, kinda had a somewhat dark tone to it

Hi. The video is titled "Generic Storytelling in Sonic Games", and you even point out that you're talking about the storytelling multiple instances in the video. The argument you're presenting is akin to saying "Sonic is used too much". Storytelling of something is far greater than x thing is used to often. Storytelling is the specifics of how something is done. While I agree that the Chaos Emeralds, Super Sonic, and Eggman can be repetitive. Saying *that* is the storytelling is highly disengenous. With this argument Sonic and The Secret Rings is the same exact storytelling - collect 7 things, get transformation, beat final boss with transformation - which is something you used as an example of something different.

Yea, someone else corrected me as well, I think the word is formula. I just get confused with words tbh. I just wanted to talk about story originality, like how in black knight, Sonic was based on knights, stuff like that. I appreciate the constructive criticism, I know I'm just a random guy, lol. Sonic and the secret rings, Sonic and the black knight(u mentioned them), Sonic colors, Sonic lost world, Sonic forces, and shadow gens Those are a list of games that don’t involve the chaos emeralds in the story 06 is about collecting the emeralds when Sonic dies and when they need to leave the future Heroes story wasn’t about collecting the emeralds you just kinda had to collect them in special stages then at the end of the game they all just have them already There’s more to the story then just collecting the chaos emeralds and there are multiple games where they don’t even do that The story isn’t generic because they’re collect chaos emeralds it’s just a formula it rly fun when they don’t use that formula but that formula isn’t the reason why it’s generic

Yea, I see now. I was confused between storytelling and formula. That's the word, lol. Everything you said makes perfect sense, and you pretty much made everything I said a lot simpler. Everything you said about the formula of the games is what I just find repetitive, and I just like game originality, such as the ones you mentioned in the first paragraph. Other than that, I really do appreciate the comment, ma boi, I know I'm not a good reviewer or anything, I just want to push my ideas, but I've been getting a lot of constructive criticism so I'll put that into play for my next videos. Superstars is way different from gens, frontiers i kind of get cuz it's sorta similar to gens but it still has alot to make it stand out. Gens is mostly just a celebration title and all that really happens is sonic saves his friends through time and stops eggman, then for sonco frontiers it starts out simialr but through out the game sonic skoely gets worse as he helps out his friend's and tries to learna lil more about the starfall islands and grows a relationship with sage who at the start hates sonic but learns more of who sonic is and at the end sonic and eggman help each other out and stop the true villain, then sonic super stars is sorta a mix of each other with how gens was very simple but it had trip who learns to find her true place in life with sonic and ultimately defeatung the final boss. Now i think you do kinda have a point in there being similarities and i get its for the weird algorithm for the thumbnaik and title but idt its exactly black and white, i think sonic should mostly try to do something like the movies with how they make it fast paced (which i think 06 and sorta forces did with its story and i kinda miss it, it reminds me of spider man 2)

There’s fan video that replaced Metal Sonic over blade runner tears in the rain scene. And I really think they should do something similar to that. If not with Metal Sonic since it seems like Metal Sonic might never change maybe with Mecha Sonic.

This "analysis" made realize the collect of the of the chaos emerals is WAAAAYYYY to similar to dragonball At certain point on every dragonball (happened more often on the original) is to look the dragon ball spheres And sonic just do it for almost all games which is kinda crazy if you think about it, just for exception of sonic lost world, colors wii, 3D blast (kinda), and shadow gens If we are more deeply we found tails games, and the mean bean machine Knuckles chaotix, sonic and the secrect rings and black night follows the same formula even if aren't the emerals Almost every sonic game follow the rule EVEN 06

That's a fact, that's why people tend to say sonic literally coped dragonball lol, cause dragonball came out and apparently, im not sure tho, the head of sonic team or the person who created sonic said he literally wanted to grab some ideas from dragonball lol so idk, makes sense if he wanted to copy it. I don't mind it tho, it's pretty cool, only difference is the hedgehogs 😂 compared to the saiyans
