I always thought that the husks were maybe failed attempts from Dark Samus to try and create more of herself, but since she was created under a specific set of circumstances that would be hard to replicate (and because the conditions on Phaaze are different to the Tallon IV Leviathan), the clones all failed and the Genesis Chamber is just where the bodies ended up.

Makes sense, especially when you consider Red Phazon is said to be more powerful than blue Phazon, and being trapped in the leviathan seed could have forced Metroid Prime to mutate beyond what was natural for a leviathan seed guardian.

Alternatively, she realized that they could potentially become a threat to her as if she was able to become what she is through stealing Samus's phazon suit they might attempt to do the same and overthrow her so she dealt with them before they had the chance.

The logbook about Leviathan infants states that after impacting a planet, the Leviathan enthralls a native bioform and leaves behind an armored shell as it dies. The Tallon IV Leviathan enthralled a Metroid, which subsequently possessed the armored shell and thus gained the crab-like appearance we first see it in.
@TSyoyo
@TSyoyo Жыл бұрын
Makes no sense.. ridley was ‘enthralled’ and he couldnt even fit in one of those husks. If this were the case then there should be husks in every single leviathan chamber in metroid prime 3. I think its an interesting idea, but if thats what the devs intended they would have made it obvious. It just wasnt thought out imo and they messed up.
@JediMB

@@TSyoyo No one's saying every enthralled bioform takes control of the armored shell, but apparently the Metroid in particular was able to. Similarly to what it did with Samus' Phazon Suit. It's a retcon, yes, but the logbook coupled with the husks in Prime 3 makes the intent pretty clear, even if what actually made it into Prime 1 to begin with was a consequence of most of the game being built during extreme crunch. (75-80% of the game's content was added in the final 6 months of development.)

I think that the Prime husks on Phaaze are meant to be seen in a similar light to the Metroid husks in SRX after Samus escapes from the Restricted Area in Metroid Fusion. And as those who have played Fusion would know, those Metroid husks all came from the Metroid that would eventually become the Omega Metroid that Samus fights at the climax of that game. Whether they have indeed evolved into their Core forms, or if the husks was just simple shedding and not the entire exoskeleton left behind from the Metroid Prime that shedded it, would be unclear.

The Metroid Prime could reproduce, much like a Fission Metroid. She had an attack based on this in her fight with Samus, where she'd create metroids to attack. My best guess as to why they're there is that Dark Samus was attempting to reproduce to create more metroid primes, however since the conditions on Phaaze were not ideal like they were on Tallon IV the newborn primes could not survive and died quickly, all while the phazon radiation basically dried and fossilized their remains which you find later. Not to mention these primes may have been born with the tech shell already on, and it might not have been as strong as the original's and gave them no protection to the phazon causing them to die.

honestly, considering that Phaaze is clearly a living planet, and all phazon seems to be connected in some way, I wonder if the genetic code for a metroid/metroid prime was sent back to Phaaze from Tallon IV and it just started producing them.

To anyone who's going to suggest the idea that Metroid Prime isn't a metroid in the comments: Metroid Prime literally summons in metroids during it's boss fight, I don't see how a creature that isn't a metroid could do that. Also, in the original North American gamecube version(the one that said that Metroid Prime came to Tallon IV inside the meteoroid), the name "Metroid Prime" was coined by the space pirates in scan logs, and not as a translation from the chozo word for ultimate warrior.

My basic theory is that the Metroid Prime is basically an evolved form of the Phazon and Hopper and Hatcher Metroid. Thus there are multiple on Phaaze ever since the pirates brought them there. They simply consumed phazon and evolved. Kinda like under Aeion Metroids evolve in their Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and Omega forms. Phaaze is basically just SR388 2.0… only without X

Im glad your attempting to answer this question because it was my only issue with your metroid prime explained video. I think the creators/writers just didnt think of what possible plot holes they were creating and simply over looked this. They retconned the lore once already as you mention here so I think they just goofed up. If it was dark samus that took metroids to phaaze then why didnt she create more like herself like she once was on Talon 4, as those are probably the strongest most intelligent versions of metroids? Also why not just make that clear to the players of the game? I really dislike the idea that a regular metroid some how got through the barrier and mutated because that implies that the chozo tech was weak and also that type of metroid that could faze through walls wasnt a thing yet. Its easy to explain away things like this by speculating but I for one would love an actual explanation from the creators. But thank you for the video man, this is the kind of content you are good at and I hope to see more 👍

I always thought that Metroid Prime (in the original form) was the "Leviathan" that rode to Tallon IV on the Phazon Meteorite, and the experiments by the Space Pirates (that allowed Metroid Prime to absorb weapon types and gain new abilities) allowed Metroid Prime to 'absorb' the bird/bug-looking phazon core that the Phazon Meteorites in Corruption had, thus why Metroid Prime was the only one with a 2nd phase that resembled Phazon itself. Meaning the Prime 'shells' might have been failed (or in-progress) cloning attempts to increase how fast and far Dark Samus could spread/absorb Phazon.

I would like to think those husks were actually attempts of self replication for furthering dark samus’s influence and mortality. Since Metroid prime 4 implies involvement of a prime then the idea of dark Samus creating them just for a fuel source seems less likely especially since she is no more. Or is she? Who knows but the prime and phazon mystery has always been the most interesting part of the series. Prime 1 being the best at captivating my interest.

ok here's my theory: metroids are named for basically being the ultimate life form by the chozo, it's not exactly a name that has to be tied to a specific creature. just like prime 3, a leviathan seed hit talon iv. usually, it would draw in something from the planet to mutate it and defend the core, however the talon iv seed may not have had time to get a guardian the core had nothing defending it though it also had nothing that could attack it for years, it would change to it's next state where the planet would usually become more like phaaze, that state would be the core becoming a prime that would run around the planet like a predator, further corrupting it. the last stage is the prime shedding husks and starting to turn into a massive seed itself that would eventually be launched into space to corrupt more planets obviously, dark samus plants the aurora unit into the core of phaaze to speed up the process of primes becoming leviathans to infect the universe on a larger scale. she was originally stuck as a prime on talon iv when the chozo barrier stops it from leaving

The Metroid Prime husks could just be that the Space Pirates/Dark Samus brought Metroids to Phaaze and they mutated into Metroid Primes. The Space Pirates can go to Phaaze so these Metroid Primes could get access to Space Pirate tech for armor and weaponry. Dark Samus killing these Primes could be for getting more power but it could also be that Dark Samus wants to control everything so having other Metroid Primes could serve as competition. Maybe there was a plan to cultivate Metroid Primes and use them to corrupt other planets but the Leviathan Seeds were used instead (hence why the husks are in the Genesis Chamber) or the Primes couldn't be controlled for whatever reason. There's also the fact that Metroid reproduce rapidly when exposed to beta-rays and since Phazon is quite radioactive maybe Dark Samus created other Metroids when exposed to that kind of radiation? This plot point has rarely been brought up but I figured I'd at least mention it. Plenty of possible explanations so this kind of thing is fun to think about.
@TSyoyo
@TSyoyo Жыл бұрын
Yea but that doesnt make sense when you consider what happened on talon 4. How did a metroid get passed the shield and why? Metroids that could faze through walls were not even thought of by the creators at this point. And the chozo were long dead and knew of the ‘worm’ as they called it. Meaning it had been there for years and years before samus even touches down there. The lore also says the the leviathan seed enthralls a creature to protect the core so if it was the metroid prime then how did it get there long before the space pirates ever touched down there? There are just to many inconsistencies.. we can all theorize on it but really the devs should have explained this years ago and its always bugged me.. lame

Honestly, what keeps getting me is that the life form is called Metroid Prime. The issue is Prime has multiple meanings. I thought the Metroid Prime was literally the prime Metroid, as in, the first Metroid. Now I understand it means Grandest Metroid, but if some random Metroid can mutate to that point, why has there been no other Prime? Dark Samus couldn't have consumed all of them. The Pirates didn't arrive immediately after the impact on Tallon IV, so the time it takes a Metroid to become a Prime can't be that long. Combine that with the likelihood that Aether and Talon IV were probably not the only planets hit by leviathans (probably just the only inhabited planets,) the fact that Space Pirates had an interest in Phazon, and that Space Pirates have been bringing Metroids with them and I come to the conclusion that it is very unlikely that Dark Samus is the only Metroid Prime. Perhaps that will be an aspect explored in 4, but until then, I'm just going to assume the writers don't understand appropriate scaling for science fiction.

I think its like this. Phaaze shoots out Meteors. Doesnt have to contain a Metroid, the Meteor shot at Aether doesnt contain a Metroid but possibly a ING or nothing. Dark Samus brings Metroids to Phaaze they begin to mutate eventually to Metroid prime and then she kills them or sucks them dry to avoid competition. Metroids ability to mutate is seen in Metroid return of Samus. I geuss they just develop that armor when corrupted by phazon.

The fact that literal enemies called Hopping Metroids look like miniature versions of Metroid Prime supports this. None of you guys know Occam's Razor? So many leaps of logic here. The simple truth is that the Metroid Prime that would become Dark Samus originated on Phaaze and the script of neither game contradicts this. Metroid are on Phaaze and quite acclimated to it before we get there - we know a Chozo explorer visited it before Samus would've even been born, it's likely enough his group had Metroids with them. The husks are old and buried, it is denying what's right in front of your eyes to say they're new creations front Dark Samus. The genesis chamber creates leviathans, installs a phaaze metroid as its default protector, and ships them off to different planets. There, it infects the local population and a new protector may take the place of the metroid, if it's powerful enough. like this is all right in front of you. Why stretch your imagination so much to bend around the physical evidence?
@LittleAl016
@LittleAl016 Жыл бұрын
The leaps of logic are coming from you. It's impossible for Metroid Prime to have originated on Phaaze with consideration given to the fact that Metroids as a species never existed before Samus was even born. Remember. The Metroids only exist because of the Chozo seeing the X as too big of a threat to be left to their own devices. No knowledge of the X Parasites, no Metroids. The Chozo never visited Phaaze, especially since it was too far away to them. How they found out about it, however, was through a probe that wasn't sent to Phaaze intentionally, and had transmitted data from Phaaze during a time when it was long thought to be lost. And you're forgetting how how Metroids can rapidly evolve. Who's to say that the same thing can't happen with Metroids mutated by Phazon?
