I think Ninja Kamui, (along with a few other animes Park has made) are essentially tech demos for his unique animation style. He's trying to prove the same concept that titles like doom and jin-roh: the wolf brigade came up with, if it's good enough on a technical level then it doesn't need a to be good story, cause it's already good enough for the time being.

I was *really* liking this show up until they switched to 3D CG mech models. For me it wasn't the fact everyone was in mech suits, it's the fact that everyone was in mech suits but the fights were much more uninteresting than the 2D animated fights where everyone was running around in plain clothes.
