I think there is also the fact that many military aged people and former members of militias are better up joining the empire than recruited by a possible rebel group. Luke for example states that he hates the empire, yet he wanted to join the empire. If the empire was still made up of clones then the rebels would have easier to recruit him, isn’t difficult to see that many people shared his mindset but they ended up being recruited or even drafted into the imperial army. If the imperial army was made up of clones then it would be a huge number of young people, many of them could get potentially recruited into the rebel alliance. The empire recruiting them instead removed a lot of potential rebel soldiers from the picture.

So do I. Continued orders of clones (clone stormtroopers) ordered in conjunction with recruitment. This was noted in "Dark Lord - Rise of Darth Vader". Indeed Emperor Palpatine informs the Loyalist Council that the Empire must be protected and consolidated. Fresh large orders are made for yet more clone stormtroopers to be grown on Kamino whilst other cloning facilities will be built throughout the galaxy. This would be done in combination with Recruitment and training of officers to replace the "traitorous Jedi Generals" at galaxy wide Imperial Academies. I think whether it was a good idea or not depends on one’s point of view. In the end Palpatine gave into his overconfidence in the illusion of power and security by replacing clones with regular humans and near-humans.
@taiwandxt6493 Жыл бұрын
Yeah you can make that argument however I think it can really only depend on your point of view if you look at it purely from a war perspective. In War, you typically want an army that contains a balance between combat effectiveness and replaceability/numbers, which is what continuing the clone production on Kamino would've provided, with the added benefit of the clones being far superior. But fighting a war wasn't the only thing on the Empire and Palpatine's agenda, as stated in the video. Palpatine's number one priority was consolidating their power and ruling the galaxy, and he needed the support of the people to do that. Opening up recruitment to the military would've gained his support across much of the impoverished, working class of the galaxy which better allowed him to gain that support, even if he had not indoctrinated any of the Stormtroopers. Those stormtroopers would've stayed loyal to him whether they're brainwashed or not because the Empire puts food on their table and gave better and more numerous career prospects. I think keeping the clones as the primary backbone of the Imperial Military probably would've sped up the Rebel Alliance's expansion and organization the same way many communist organizations in our world gained support throughout the 20th century. If Palpatine didn't gain the support of the peasantry, his opponents would've first.

First of all great job. I've missed your videos. Secondly, I will say while disbanding the clone army and moving to humans for an army definitely did instill a sense of gratitude for many worlds in the Empire, there was also a higher risk of rebellion as many of the stormtroopers began to see what pain and destruction the Empire they fought for had done and left the Empire or died hoping that they had inspired others to fight against the Empire. Clones on the other hand did have rebellion but they were loyal to the Republic, they fought in countless battles and had a true enemy to fight. And there were definitely some worlds that saw the temporary clone army occupation as a good thing as they kept the Separatists at bay. Toydaria along with other worlds saw that affects the Separatists had caused and saw the Republic as a means of protection. But having said that the Jedi in my opinion were a little too secretive and definitely seemed like an intrusive force as they often couldn't empathize with the civilians.

It's why I think in our own real world, that many overestimate how many in the military would rebel against the government if they were ever to turn tyrannical. For these active duty soldiers in our world, the government puts food on their table and gives them adventure and career prospects. Ultimately freedom wouldn't matter to people if their needs are met. It's why I believe such a balance between the two is necessary for a successful society, Freedom and Public Safety/Welfare.

The reason for the clear difference in quality really also comes down to their training and their respective roles in the galaxy. The Clone Troopers made up the whole of the Grand Army of the Republic, a full fledged military force that was trained and equipped to fight in a large scale, prolonged conflict, which it did during the Clone Wars. They were, by all means, the best military force in galactic history up until that point. By comparison, the Imperial Stormtroopers served a role similar to that of police: enforcing laws and maintaining order. As such, their training did not emphasize the same high intensity combat situations that the Clones found themselves in, which is why it appears that they are a "downgrade" from them when in reality they are two different forces with two different functions in mind. Of course, it also reflects the arrogance of the Galactic Empire to assume that there could never be another armed force to oppose them, until the Rebel Alliance began winning battles and making Storm Troopers look incompetent. Comparing Clones to Storm Troopers is like comparing a soldier to a police officer: some of their training overlaps, but they are equipped for entirely different roles.
@Chaotic_Jackal Жыл бұрын
I really wish people would stop making this argument because this isn’t something supported in either Legends or Canon lore. The Clone Troopers weren’t better soldiers then their Stormtrooper counterparts by any meaningful metric. Nor where Stormtroopers wasted on simple policing actions (that was the regular Imperial Army’s job), Stormtrooper units where often only deployed to planets where conflict was either a given or there was something of to great a strategic value to be left up to the Imperial Army regulars. We see them a lot in the shows and movies but that’s largely due to the plot important events that tend to revolve around. And let’s be real here, for pure nostalgia reasons. When it comes to the OT people expect stormtroopers, Star Destroyers, and TIE fighters, so that’s largely what the writers are going to add in.

@@Chaotic_Jackal 😆Clone troopers were indeed much better soldiers than Stormtroopers. Jango Fett was cloned for a reason: he was skilled enough to be able to actually kill Jedi. The Clone Troopers also had far more training than Stormtroopers. Which is obvious by how terrible the average Stormtrooper's aim is. The Clones have also done some pretty amazing feats. What feats have Stormtroopers ever done besides being canon fodder?
@Chaotic_Jackal Жыл бұрын
@@scinnyc Jango’s ability to kill Jedi didn’t make the clones superior soldiers in the slight though as none of the clones where even remotely on his level and varied wildly in terms of their individual combat skills. As for the idea of the clones being “better trained”, both Stormtroopers and Clone troopers go through the same combat training programs with the only difference being the Imperial one being slightly more refined due to the lesions learned from the clone wars. A lot of people like to say that because clones where created from birth to be soldiers that makes them better but those same people tend to forget that most of a clone trooper’s early development and upbringing would, by necessity be no different from that of a normal child with basic education and physical fitness being the norm tell they reach adulthood and can begin proper military training. There’s a reason why training troops from brith fell out of usage in the real world after all. Also the Stormtroopers can’t aim thing is a meme based on people not paying attention to what actually happened in Ep. 4 where it is outright stated the Stromtroopers intentionally allowed the heroes to escape so they could track them back to the Rebel base on Yavin 4. Other then they they are never portrayed in any of the films as being poor shots.

Hell even in episode 6. Plenty of non-main character rebels and Ewoks get blown away by the Empire throughout that scene. And those are just the movies, the various books and games make it vary clear that they are very effective soldiers in their own right. 3) You can hop over to the Wiki and read up on Stormtrooper training yourself if you wish. We literally know more about their training regime then we do those of the Clone Troopers. Me assuming they where the same was just being charitable. 4) Large numbers of people parroting around incorrect information doesn’t make it any less wrong my guy. The empire shouldve used stormtroopers as an elite branch of service while filling the Imperial Army with regular humans. The cream of the crop from the Army recruits could then be offered an enlistment in the storm trooper corps.

Perhaps, it is time for a change. Now, more than ever. Building a strong galaxy requires protection and security. Due to admiral Rampart's nefarious actions and the immediacy of the bill on the floor today, it is my opinion that this legislation is our future. With this momentous act, we shall usher in a new era, heralded by the Imperial Stormtrooper! P.S. I wrote this from mind, that's how many times I have rewatched it

Personally I'd prefer if the original Expanded Universe lore was maintained with continued orders of clones (clone stormtroopers) ordered in conjunction with recruitment. This was noted in the novel "Dark Lord - Rise of Darth Vader". Emperor Palpatine informs the Loyalist Council that the Empire must be protected and consolidated.

The issue wasn't that they phased out clones or transitioned to stormtroopers, the issue is that they did both at once. The belief that loyalty will be generated by indoctrinating individuals into the military holds some merit, but having a clone army and having an enlisted force are not mutually exclusive ideas. You can have a transitional military force governed by enlisted officers (like during the clone wars), while having many enlisted soldiers in various military bases across their home systems, like a national guard and a coast guard on the galactic scale. You keep your walking death machines while still employing millions to fight for the Empire. This would also open avenues for greater engineering medical science. It's much less anger that the empire lost a fully functioning (and based on episode 7), easily controlled military and much more disappointment. The Empire very obviously could fully control clones with appropriate regulation. The actual reason the empire got rid of clones was to cover up the dirty work that was order 66 without causing too much suspicion... Which honestly could have been circumvented altogether had Palpatine been a tad more patient... Oh well.

Good to have the lore master back. I have to say tho that I don't like the clones being phased out this early in the empires reign and doing so whilst their isn't truly an imperial military made up yet. 5 yrs I could imagine and say cool that makes sense but this seems like mere months, max a yr which is just silly. Legends made much more sense, u had the clones still in service tho some did leave, and u also had regular troops making up the majority. Clone forces were even expanded and multiple templates were used to diversify and pad the amount of fighting men more. To decommission them now whilst they're still a young useful fighting force, who are much more willing to obey orders, is just a waste of assets and is plain stupid to me. On top of that we know a clone rebellion is coming and the empires literally the one oushing them to do so which is also stupid given they're a trained fighting force bred for war who have a deeper understanding of war and the Republic now empires tactics then anyone. The smart decision would be to use them whilst they're useful and appease them, abandoning them just doesn't have any true benefits. Imagine a few yrs down the line where the emperor tells the galaxy that the clone numbers are dwindling after trying to defend the empire for so long and so they have no choice but to conscript citizens so that the clones fight wasn't in vain and so they could stay protected. If u acc think about it, it doesn't really work

I believe that the Empire did make a big mistake replacing the clones with human recruits, but in my honest opinion, it would’ve been a lot better if the galactic empire got a form of soldier that was similar to those used by the eternal empire, which these troops were sky troopers Which were droids completely or it would’ve been better if they would’ve trained the storm troopers the same way that they would train the Royal guards because of my honest opinion, the royal guards are more intimidating than the storm troopers and the level of training that the imperial royal guards had is much beneficial to the empire because we all know that the storm troopers can’t shoot at all

Edit: I completely missed the entire point of this video oops I always thought that the clones were meant to make it seem like there are less individual people dying to glorify the idea of war to the Senate Less Jedi at risk (theoretically) less citizens at risk which softens the blow of war or the necessity of violence to get what the Emperor wants

Technically, yes, it is. Just that it overall benefits Palpatine to get rid of the Clone Army anyway as.... 1- it covers up his crimes' tracks 2- the money for more clones is being spent on the Death Stars 3- an army of unwitting but loyal dimwits who work for even cheaper and are very easy to replace? Sounds right up Palpatine's alley

Let’s just be honest Palaptine’s real mistake was not investing into some kind of stable economic strategy that could actually last into the future because an over militarised empire stuck in a permanent war economy is never good, especially for building stable condition. Of course the Imperial military needs to remain strong, but they can’t over use it.

Using volunteer citizens makes sense. Clones were trained in conventional warfare. As we've seen in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, asymmetric war is a whole different ballgame. Clones would not have fared any better.
@EagleFangBasketball2212 сағат бұрын
True. The Empire can't rely on clones anymore due to them being bred for combat and individual thinking skills. They only want regular human soldiers (stormtroopers) to police the galaxy. So, they didn't have any combative skills that the clones had.
