"They can fix that in post" is a handy euphamism among dressing props for "We're not f***ing moving that!". But then it gets moved anyway because "it's not that kind of film" - another handy euphamism meaning we don't have the budget. Looking at a fence on the edge of a forest and understanding the effort involved, I once heard a designer say "I'm afraid we'll have to fix those posts in prep".

Hey guys, loving the podcast. Couple of notes as a slightly irate viewer... Bring back the two-shot! Is the compilation format just a one-off? I had to hunt out the audio cast on Tuesday - committed - and now I'm having to listen through again on the live before I get to what I assume is the new content? I get the experimentation with delivery strategy, but I love me some sweet continuity, it's genius! Also, not a fan of the transitions. It's making everything feel a bit more 'clipped' and discombobulating. Still, my top podcast of the moment. Keep it coming.

Budweisers profits have risen - while the right loves to woke go broke, it’s not really rule. What really happens is go woke - wait for right to lose their little snowflake minds over a pronoun- wait for the to rage promote your product - watch the profits rise after an initial dip. Seriously Nike,Keurig,Budweiser etc actually know right wing rage is a great Way to increase profits.

On triathletes - two of my nephews have worn the Team GB vest on triathlons *so proud of them*. Give them money. They feckin' deserve it for all the training they do....and Team GB only supplies the vest if you're not part of the elite set-up. That means they pay for their own flights and rooms to wherever the triathlon is - not horrendous if it's in the Balearics but you're still paying to represent your country. Sure, if Abi from accounts is rattling a tin at you for a charity you've not heard of you're just supporting a charity you've not heard of. But the high level athletes, who need a non charitable donation just to represent the country, really deserve a £5er from your pocket.

I love the banter factory that these two have created so much. When it comes to issues like Saudi money/film washing, that social media companies and their products aren’t exactly the bee’s knees, and of course what she clearly implies here-the four horsemen of the apocalypse imagined by the religions of yesteryear seem quaint alongside the harbinger of doom that is Goop. Jokes aside I’d rather face the angel of death than a 5-minute pitch by GP. 😂 Which brings me to Richard! Every time he mentions a documentary, piece of trivia or makes a reference or pun and is wildly pleased with himself, I just think to myself “DOES HE NOT KNOW HE HAS ALREADY WON ME OVER?!?” …I’m starting to suspect he might be addressing a broader audience and not just tailoring his banter to my taste. Dark times in the kingdom…

A Bargain Hunt question. You know the bit where a team looks at an item but doesn't buy it, instead telling the stallholder they'll come back later? If that happens, but the team doesn't ultimately buy the item the stallholder has reserved, does the BBC then compensate the stallholder in some way for not having been able to sell that item at the fair?
@pd41656 ай бұрын
Unless the stallholder is soft in the head - that item is getting sold to the next person waving a handful of £5ers at them. I'm old enough to remember shopkeepers reserving things for my mum when she asked...but only on the basis of her being a regular customer that was worth cultivating, not a stranger doing a walk in.

The continuity error that always comes to mind for me is from the film "Killing Them Softly". There is a scene in a bar between Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini where James is ordering drinks, drinking and complaining to the waiter. The number of glasses, the positioning and the level of drink in the glasses is all over the place. It's very noticeable because the scene is focused on the drinking but glasses keep refilling.

Im curious how awards affect an actors pay now. I know in the past an Oscar win basically guaranteed much higher salaries, more power over contract negotiations, etc... but it doesn't seem to hold the same gravitas as it once did. Also interested since many of the highest paid actors have relatively low activity social media acounts, but for young upcoming actors, they are encouraged to be very active on social media, which is often the thing that takes them down in the long run. Seems like the studios (or possibly society) are setting them up to fail before icon status.

You make a very interesting point about the movie stars' films being watched by the same people but 20 years later on a different format (streaming). Assuming technology remains on demand, won't the franchise films / actors etc come round in another 20 years?
@kirkschwarz6 ай бұрын
I guess the reason most big movie stars are old is that whole second screen issue again. 20 years ago we had the cinema and the TV and you had a clear distinction between film and TV stars. The younger demos now don't have that split. Why spend money to go to the cinema when you know that film will come out to streaming for a convenient watch. Plus, the definition of celebrity itself has changed so drastically with the rise of KZbin and TikTok and other social media platforms. Is it simply that trad. media's audience is getting older and that slate of the stars we loved are reflective of that?
