@LiveFreeOrDie2A Жыл бұрын
The “this is so meta” joke about the fact it’s been over 6 years now and we’re still waiting on Part 6 is just pathetic at this point from someone who ends Part 5 saying “I actually care about my audience”. BULLSHIT. The fact you haven’t manned up, buckled down, and put out Part 6 after 6+ years at this point is honestly mind boggling and says a lot about your character! Stop making excuses and blaming the project for how hard and time consuming it is. You have 1.12 MILLION subs on this channel, yet you’re putting out 1-2 45+ min long videos a day that average under 1k views on your Gaming Channel w/ only 35.2k subs. A channel that’s 7 YEARS old w/ 3.3k videos. I think we can see what takes up so much of your time. STOP MAKING EXCUSES, get your fucking priorities straight, ACTUALLY care about your audience, and FINISH these fucking ‘The Genius of Synecdoche, New York’ videos! Not just Part 6, but Part 7 -__! Seriously, it’s truly insulting and disrespectful to your audience. There are literally some who died waiting for Part 6, and more who will die. At this rate we’ll all die before you ever put out Part 6-___ IF you ever care enough about your audience to ever put them out at all. Sorry if I’m being harsh, just being honest.

It's incredible how both quickly these parts seem to fly by and yet how each minute, each second is crammed full of detail. Both the movie and this analysis provide such deep insight yet don't even scratch the surface of the topics they try to discuss. And the ending to this part, maybe it hit me harder then most but that is such a true statement. We all sit here and see this go up and jokingly scream ITS BEEN 400 YEARS SINCE THE LAST PART OF THIS, yet we have absolutely no idea what was or is going on in Adam's life right now. The joys, pain, suffering and stress taking place throughout all this. Adam I know this piece is stressful to produce and isn't the most popular series on your channel, but I honestly think this will be one of your greatest works, even if the majority of your subscribers never both to check it our. I was just thinking this. This is actually my first time going through the Synecdoche video series. I had originally told myself "oh I missed the start, so I'll wait til it's finished and then come back and watch it all as a completed work." However, with Scoot's passing, I realized there are moments you can't plan for; things that could change and you can never go back and revisit what you missed out on. And so I decided it was time to watch these and listen to Adum's thoughts. And after watching them all, I can't help but feel doing the next section might be cathartic in some way for him. 7 years have passed since Part 5. So much good and bad has almost certainly happened for him within that time. I'm sure he's changed dramatically as a person from then until now; and I think it makes sense to use that new perspective to revisit this project. At the same time, I wouldn't hold it against him if he decided to never complete this project, especially with how personal and self-confrontational the subject matter is.

The biggest final message that I got from this film was how to get empathy from despair. The depression of the film comes from the truth of it, we will all die and that’s all we know. To pave that path to die in our own way we must connect to other people. That’s the only way to find ourselves and our role in society. That’s the goal of all art, to connect. Caden must find both a way to connect to his true identity and the people he cares about. This is why him connecting to the role or gender of women is so important, because then he can be empathetic and have better relationships with the family he wishes and wished to have. The play shows the separation between faked connection and real connection, which is defined by our intentions. True empathy and meaning in our individual and collective lives comes from genuine care rather than connections based on only self interest, like Adele’s with Caden or Caden’s with Claire. What I got from the film is that our identity can be weakened and life less meaningful when we live in paranoia of death and let self despair take away our empathy. We all die, and that may make life feel less special or significant, but the fact that we all have the same end means we should connect on that level and treat each other accordingly. We can’t treat people like extras, we may be the director of our own life and death, but everyone else matters just as much.

Just wanted to say this is my favorite series you're doing, I enjoy the funny videos a lot but the core of the entertainment value isn't that you're laughing at a bad movie but that you have insightful things to say. So please do the videos that you enjoy making and dont listen to the fans too much. Its not for me to say whether or not you enjoyed making the Unfriended series or this one more or less but I got more out of these 5 parts than that YMS review or the Kool Kat videos. If you happen to read this comment and care, you inspired me to make my own reviews so thanks.

Yeah, even though *I* personally enjoy the funny stuff more I *_completely_* agree with your sentiments. Though I guess we might be in a minority considering how most KZbinrs get treated when they aren't meeting the exact demands of their audience's whims :/ Whatever the case I just want Adam to be able to enjoy all his work the absolute most he can :D

Yo, Adam, don't sweat it. Totally understand why this took so long to make, you're just one man and can only do so much. Great video, as always. Always saw this movie on the shelf at local shops and never knew how amazing it was. It's incredible but also kinda depressing... Okay, it's super depressing, but still a masterpiece.

Hey Adum, I just want to let you know that im still waiting for part 6. I still care about your perspective on this film. Watching these reviews again reminds me of the past when things weren’t so complicated. So much has happened to me within these years & I have a different perspective on life now. I’d like to see how part 6 would make me feel since you are good at reading into what’s going on in these scenes & explaining subtle things we couldn’t put together.

No part 6 yet huh, just watched this movie for the first time now and been quite obsessed with it, really enjoyed your interpretations and takes on it. I'm kind of only commenting this so i can comeback here later in life to reflect on the passage of time, and do as Charlie Kaufman advised and rewatch this movie

Hey Adam, I have an idea for a new video/series you could make. I just started looking at your ratings on your imdb page and almost every time i see you rate a movie a 10/10 it shocks me because of how unexpected it is. It's strange seeing you love a particular movie that i could not have anticipated you would (LotR movies, the thing, etc). You could do a video just talking about why you love those movies so much, I think that would be really interesting for us to see (especially since we only really see you talk about movies you love on your top 10 lists once a year).

when this video came out i was 19... I'm 25 now and i feel like I've experienced very little of the last 6 years. I remember thinking "finally" when this video came out. never did i imagine i would go through so much and learn so much more about myself by the time i came back to this film and this analysis. to be honest it's a scary and beautiful feeling where i'm inspired to do more, live more and experience more and yet, immediately cut down by the realisation that no matter how hard i try make the most of my life, time seems to move increasingly faster. what a strange, meta, one of a kind experience this film provides. And thank you Adam, hope you can find the time to mine everything you're looking for in this film.

I watched this movie for the first time last night. I watched all 5 parts of this review this morning. I feel so bad for the people who have been on this ride for 8 years. I actually checked to see if the guy who makes these videos had died. Sorry I’m not a sub, I just stumbled across this today. Maybe he should cast someone in the play of life to fill this role for him. This is very fitting for the piece though.

I started watching this when I was 16, now I'm 18 and this makes even more sense to me. Between graduating from high school, being in college, dealing with relationships that ultimately fail and constantly scrutinizing myself, I feel like I relate to Caden so much more. Youthful ignorance is sweet and I wish I'd appreciated it more when I was younger.

Please please please!! You must finish the review! It is so thorough (fonts, song titles, translations, hidden meanings etc) I’m loving this series just as much as I’ve loved the film. I really can’t wait to see the continuation for the review. Best of luck to you in all your projects.

In the six years this review has taken so far I’ve: Failed at school, then gotten better; given my first kiss, lost my virginity; entered high school, graduated high school, entered college; had my first girlfriend, had my first breakup; idealized multiple career paths, to then lose hope on them; turned from being a conservative, to being a leftie on the political spectrum; went to a psychologist, finished the sessions; had my first experiences with death and many other things I can’t remember right now. Just goes to show how, just like in the movie, time flies past you in the blink of an eye and that there is really no way to stop that from happening. In a fleeting moment your happiness turns into sadness and your sadness into happiness without the existence of chapters nor timestamps, just the beating of time passing by as you try to hold on to your most important memories. This is not necessarily depressing, as all thing must come to an end; it is, though, a reality check. Maybe I’ll try to take more advantage of the time I have here, or maybe I’ll just slow things down, live more in the present. Or maybe I’ll do none of that and just accept that time passes by, that things change and that the present isn’t eternal as I patiently wait for the next installment in this review. No one knows where I’ll be in six years; if my current identity will be stripped away or if it will find itself reinforced, if I will be alive or if I will just be another memory in people’s life. I guess we’ll see.

I can’t wait for part 6 ... As horribly depressing this film can be I found it to be strangely reassuring in the sense that it felt as if all of my fears, anxiety for the future , for getting older , for the inevitable in relationships both platonic and romantic had found a voice ... A glimpse of that moment of understanding ti which everyone in their own way can participate emotionally ...

Just a little thing I've noticed: When Caden buys (rents) the building, the woman mentions how Shakespeare was played there. I think that was a play on the famous Shakespeare quote "all the world's a stage" with the place being a literal stage displaying the world and that being a theme in the film

12:36 'Vom Schreibtisch der Adele Lack' would be correct here. 'Des' is the male form in this case. But I'm not sure if that's actually a goof or an implication that Adele's also going through a sex transformation as Caden does.

This review has caused me to reflect on the one story I've been writing for... you know what? Since I was a teenager. I'm now 35, and I remember working on this story two decades ago. I've had a sudden flood of inspiration that has given me a way past several writer's blocks at once, tied the story more tightly together by orders of magnitude, and even given me a working title. The story has started pushing outside itself, and pushing that outside itself outside itself. I now know with crystal clarity all the themes I'm working with, and I can move forward. I don't know how much you notice comments on old videos, how interested you are in stories from video games, but man do I want to run all this by you and pick your brain about it. In any case, Adam, thanks to you and Kaufman for giving me the push I needed.
