Having the girl not go back up on the chairlift sounds like it would make for a better story. There could be something like them planning to meet later that night, and her not knowing where they are while we're cutting between her trying to get ahold of them and the two morons stuck on the chairlift. It'd at least have some scene changes, and more of a basic story structure.

Hey! So you might be wondering where Childhood Trauma Part 3 is. I decided to get this review done first since it was more time-sensitive being a 500K sub special and all. I figured it was okay to push Childhood Trauma Part 3 to "late January / early February" considering there isn't a really continuous plot being followed in that review. YMS Frozen Part 2 should be out in the first half of January, then I'll be finishing up Childhood Trauma Part 3. Thank you! EDIT: Frozen Part 2 is delayed until the end of January. I had to restructure my approach to the review, but now it is infinitely better than it was before. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. Can't wait to show it! Childhood Trauma Part 3 will likely be closer to end of February because of this.

+Devil Mcclanahan I hate that line of thinking where film makers or whatever are just like "The main characters HAVE to be grounded and relatable everymans that people can insert themselves into the shoes of!" So they just kind-of keep pumping out the same set of boring, stupid, character-less white people instead of actually making characters who are somewhat interesting that I'd actually want to see. Sure, it's a good idea to have a character be relatable to play it safe, but good characters don't freaking just play it safe, they do something different that makes you want to watch their journey because nobody wants to follow the story of some faceless, boring, uninteresting, shit who we're just told is somehow important!

dracocrusher Why does the race of a character matter?
@dracocrusher8 жыл бұрын
+Conramagne It really doesn't, but it's just really boring how every 'everyman' character is basically a straight, white, man with normal upbringings, no romantic history or partner, usually no notable skills at all, no hobbies, few likes and dislikes, etc. I mean, don't get the wrong idea, there's nothing at all wrong with any race of actors and I'm not going to be like "Hollywood needs diversity NOW" or anything like that. But would it REALLY hurt your blank slate of a character THAT MUCH to just put a woman or someone OTHER THAN a white male on your grand adventure where they ultimately become special for doing practically nothing? Like just to shake things up from the norm to some extent, you know? Would it really change THAT much of the story if the typical prophecy chosen one bullshit picked a black guy as their everyman to become a badass for no real reason instead of another 20-40 white guy? Not saying that would somehow magically make the character or the story better, but any step outside of that super specific mold generally wouldn't hurt the final product.

Between the dude in the beginning saying he needs to pee so bad "he can taste it" and the highly detailed close up of the girl pissing her snow pants later in the movie I'm convinced the director DEFINITELY had a piss fetish Also wouldn't the pee like... freeze her clothes to her if it's really that cold? The worst possible thing you can do in below freezing weather is get wet.
@giantidiot312 жыл бұрын
That's why the suggestion of pissing yourself to warm up in a survival situation (mainly in places where fire building is difficult or impossible) was phased out. Yes, it momentarily warms you up a little bit. But on top of the urine on your clothes cooling/freezing and drawing more heat away from the body, urine also carries a lot of heat. So pissing your pants to warm up is sorta like pouring a warm water bottle on your lap to warm up instead of keeping the bottle close to your body for as long as possible.

@jonanice4 жыл бұрын
Gametrix 731 I do think there’s some unrealistic points to the film but none are yours. People don’t bring phones when the ski/snowboard usually & even if they had them I doubt they’d have a signal. This sport makes you very hot infact despite the temp & snow, so people tend not to wear more than than how the character were dressed. Technically there was a check made n the guy turns back just as he reaches them, also I think the total time spent by the girl (the last one) was one night n one day tops, so possibly got down before a patrol came
@devove44934 жыл бұрын

To take the fun out of your channel taking the fun out of everything: the Y2K problem wasn’t hysteria over an arbitrary date. At the time, many computer programs used two decimal digits to represent any year - e.g. 86 for the year 1986 - to save memory. From the program’s perspective, the beginning - and the rest - of the 2000s was no different from the 1900s, which could’ve caused some nasty problems depending on how the program used the date. The Y2K problem was avoided because developers took it seriously and rolled out solutions before the year 2000. Another example: shortly after the new year in 2038, i.e. Y2K38, the Unix epoch time will be too large to fit into a 32 bit integer. There’s nothing special about the number 2,147,483,648 itself, but the integer overflow that will occur at this number is still a problem that has to be addressed. I don’t know if numbers have any intrinsic significance, but the significance we give numbers is still pretty damn important. For example, there’s nothing special about the numbers 50 or 67, but these numbers - as a percentage of a whole - are two common minimums for a group majority, which is the basis of the democratic process for most of the world.

If done properly by a highly skilled team, this film could be amazing. A bleak imagery of three people gradually delving into insanity from hunger , thirst and insomnia. I mean it may seem like a ludicrous idea at first, but any film concept can be executed perfectly if done correctly
@scodiofficer00123 жыл бұрын
True, although after watching the movie I actually enjoyed it, the blend of predictable music and plot paired with the stupid decisions of the characters really made this movie all the more enjoyable. Plus the practical effects for the corpses was really realistic.
@goingunder2548 Жыл бұрын
That reminds me of Gerald's Game, a movie/book where the main protagonist spends most of her time chained to a bed. It still manages to be unnerving (maybe I wouldn't use the word scary) because as bizarre as the situation is, it's still plausible, and it's scary to imagine how quick you would descend into insanity and repressed childhood trauma if that was you. There doesn't seem to be any sense of that in this movie.

I remember vaguely watching this movie, it was on a bus trip, a long bus trip. You see, in my country they are very dangerous, I remember one of the tense scenes, but not because of the movie, but because the score matched perfectly to the mass of people attacking the busses close to mine. I remember hearing gunfire and when they threw a Molotov to the bus ahead my mother held me tight, the noise was mixed with the sound of fire, metal breaking and screaming, some time later I found out the bus just ahead of ours was attacked and everyone killed. Ours was spared because the driver was black... I will never forget this movie, as long as I live I'll have the memory of that awful day, thanks for reminding me of this terror YMS...

I didn't get a good look but... aren't those drops actually easily survivable? it's really not far up for a lift, and I've heard of absurdly high lift drops where they just broke a leg because the snow is like a pillow and it's a sloped landing so the impact is lessened. and they have a hedge below them? and they can hang on the lift before dropping? they could even attempt using a ski as a sort of rope since they only need one person on the ground
@grantmoore82286 жыл бұрын
lusteraliaszero...yes actually. in fact most people are recommended to go for available snow instead of water when falling from a significant height for that exact reason. I admit I'm not a doctor but I can almost guarantee that at most, assuming they don't get incredibly unlucky and land on they're feet, the worst case would be a very bruised butt. in fact a greater risk would be them injuring their arms if they landed on arms then them breaking both their legs
@dallaswebb54935 жыл бұрын
So you're telling me that a 50 foot drop onto packed snow *WOULDN'T* shatter your legs?
@grantmoore82285 жыл бұрын
@@dallaswebb5493 So I looked this up but most chairlifts only go up to 50 feet at the most. Since they don't look to be that high up it shouldn't be that bad but let's say for the sake of argument it IS 50 feet high. According to offgridweb.com you have a 50% chance of survival on landing on flat earth from that hight but this is different terrain. The movie makes it a point that a heavy snow storm hits these three idiots on the lift. That means that on top of the snow already on it there is now a pack of freshly produced snow. It's not the fall that kills you it's the sudden stop. The snow acts as a cushion and would slow down the decent. If they had landed on their butts or at least put on their snowboards or skis to spread the weight once they land it would've raised their survivability tenfold. So yes, well it would have hurt like hell on their asses...I think that's a more preferably alternative then breaking your legs and dying because of a unconvincing wolf attack!

Shoulda landed on his butt.

They actually referenced this movie once in the British soap 'Emmerdale'. No idea if you know but it's like one of the 3 most watched soaps in the UK. So the fact that they decided to reference this movie of all movies is baffling. And what's more amazing is the context of the reference. I don't watch any soaps but I randomly came across it while my parents were watching it and there was a guy dressed as Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen and it seemed to be a part of some bet and he loses because the guy who started the bet meant a cosplay of THIS MOVIE! One I remember was that "Wolves are sexist" because the wolf killed and started eating one of the boys but didn't try to kill the girl when she ran by it. I really wish that list was still on the IMDB page for the film.

It's kinda dumb but at least it doesn't have to do fucking backflips of logic to get the plot to work. Three people go to an enclosed ATM, scary man tries to kill them if they step outside the room. Also it has Josh Peck from Drake and Josh, so that's a bonus.
