FYI Arjen and Annie co-wrote The Gentle Storm as a project. Arjen is the tall guitarist with the shag carpet hairdo. Before him, the guitarist dueling with the violin is Timo Somers, guitar wizard of the band Delain. The violinist is also worthy of mention, if I only knew his name. Anyone ...?

So glad you did this song. Anneke is so much fun, and just a bundle of energy and smiles. Neither of you mentioned it but Arjen Lucassen was playing guitar on this song. He was in a few of the shots. Such a talented band.

You saw a project of Ayreon's Arjen Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen. They made a really fun 2-CD telling a story about Dutch colonist Michiel de Ruyter and his wife (Anneke) who is waiting for him at home. The two CDs each have the same songs, only one CD is the metal (storm) versions and the other is the accoustic (gentle) versions. Both are lovely and fun to hear together.

A frustratingly under-reacted to and overlooked gem of a song that is one of my absolute favorites. Anneke is simultaneously both divinely adorable and magnificently kick ass here. Arjen, Marcela & the Ayreon alumni made this project so damned cool! Anneke posing in period costume flashing the horns may be my favorite part of the video :D

This whole album is magnificent. It's a colab between Arjen Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen. It tells a story across a double cd, but each cd tells the same story - except the first cd 'storm' is the story in metal and the second cd 'gentle' is the same story and same songs but with period / folk instruments. This song is the 'storm' version.

I think Suzy is close. It is actually called a pan flute. It is an ancient instrument. The pan flute is named after Pan, the Greek god of nature and shepherds often depicted with such an instrument. Loved your video my friends. Peace. 😊✌

Such a great ensemble with Arjen, Anneke, Marcela, Jeroen, Joost, Ed, etc! So hope they will join forces once again, either as Gentle Storm, or in the VuuR band, under the Ayreon banner, or in some other way. The Diary was quite an impressive album, and still growing on me tbh. Nice and fun reaction guys, and thanks again Uwe!

It was a collaboration between Anneke an d Arjen (Ayreoan). Even Timo from Delain did tie guitar solo and Merel Bechtold (now ex delain) played on the live tour

The guitar solo was done by Timo Somers who you might remember as the guitarist from Delain. But Timo wasn’t part of this band. Merel Bechtold, who you might know from Delain as well (she quit that band) and from Dear Mother (her current band) was sick on the day of recording so they asked Timo. Merel did the solo’s on tour though. And yes, Annie is such a sweet and funny person. I love going to her concerts and we always chat up after the shows.

The Gentle Storm for Gentle Storm Chasers ! Guys it's a curious project . 1'38" Your voice is a flute Suzi , sussurri...7'40" Sir Travis maybe it's "flauto traverso" in Italiano but i don't See it !? So...between 7'30" and 8'30" we have guitar solo and violin solo and the sequence it is repeated with melodic , technic and in some moments quite original passages . Empathetic video to us Travis and Suzi i appreciate ! It seems quite cool the bass line (2'45"-2'48" in which is quite listenable for example , but also after... for almost the entire song ah ! And i appreciate so much now i notice well) 7'40" It's your magic Lady Suzi 🧚‍♀️ (Trilli of Peter Pan Travis eh) . Did you notice the passages in upbeat on the snare ? Some (even sort of) triplets
