This react is fantastic! Glad that you liked it!! Avatansia is not a formal band, but a musical project from Tobias Sammet (the starting vocal) and it has different stories and each vocal is a different character... the two first albums (Metal Opera Part 1 and 2) tells one story. Then you have the Scarecrow trilogy (The Scarecrow, The Wicked Symphony, The Angel of Babylon) which tells a tragic story of a lonesome creature, emotionally isolated from his environment and suffering from a distorted sensory perception. His feelings for the love of his life unrequited, he sets off on a journey exploring his left-hand path, striving for inner peace, ploughing his way to approval and eventually facing temptation at the inner depths of the human soul. In this story, Tobias Sammet is The Scarecrow and Jorn Lande is The Devil (bad feelings and thoughts of the main character).

With Avantasia (as I understand it), generally their albums are one big story with each song interpreting a piece of that story, so listerning to a song on its own won't give you the full context - the hardcore Avantasia fans might be able to correct me if I'm wrong. 'The Raven Child (Lyric Video)' would be good choice for a reaction but honestly, this band has sooo many epic tracks!

Yes, they tell a story. There's 3 albums called the "Wicked Trilogy" (The Scarecrow / Wicked Symphony / Angel of Babylon) that make up one story. Followed by (The Mystery of Time / Ghostlights) telling another story. their 2 most recent albums are stand alone stories.
