I keep coming back to this brilliant rendition year after year. A bit more attack than the album. It's a remarkable team of musicians: Anneke, Marcela (they sound _so_ good together), Merel, Ed, Johan, and I'm afraid I don't know who the guitarist is, but he's great too. It's fascinating to watch these people move around their various projects being consistently excellent, but this gig just here captured some alchemy with the musicianship and Aryen's incredible songwriting and arranging. It's a classic that should be a lot more famous. And how did this get to be 7 years ago already!

Everything Arjen releases is pure gold, and Anneke's presence sprinkles gold dust on every collaboration she's involved with. This album is like some kind mutant super-gold. Gold squared? Gold to the power of gold? ...seriously though, with these two involved I had high expectations, and after listening to both sides many times I must say the expectations were well met. Bravo Arjen and Anneke.

frankly this live version sounds even better than the studio version to me... sounds more... agressive... I'd really like a live version of the Diary (Storm Version) with "this" sound :) Anyway great song and great performance!!!

Oh how I love Anneke Van Giersbergen's voice. This is a great song/video. Such a great progressive style, Anneke brings an alluring style of newage in her voice to the forefront of progressive rock music.

Saw the show in london thursday. It was just amazing! I've been to lots of concerts, but this was the best ever. Thank you for this Arjen. Anneke's performance and stage prescence is insane. Wow! I cant even remember the last time before this i heard a vocalist be pitch perfect for two hours straight. This is professional on so many levels. And also some great songs! Two of my old favorites from mandylion i never thought i would get to hear live, some of my favorite ayreon songs, and the new Storm songs. I'm praising this alot, but you guys deserve it! Thank you!

celthar79 I was there and completely agree. The thing is Anneke is pitch perfect like that pretty much all the time (I've seen her more than ten times live with various bands and she's always been awesome). It was amazing to hear Isis and Osiris and Valley of the Queens live as I got into Arjen's music with Into the Electric Castle. They're coming back in October supporting Delain, even if it will be a shorter set I feel like I have to again.

***** It's true. The London crowd on the 23rd April was standing quite still for a lot of it, just absorbing it all, but when Anneke signalled during the middle 8 of 'New Horizon' every fist went in the air right on the beat, in perfect timing... it was uncanny. :-)

I discovered Marcela two years ago. I follow Ayreon and I bought cd`s and dvd and I realize that she really has an amazing talent,also with Mayan, she really reaches every single note, she can handle anything. My question is why I feel that she still hasnt the place she deserves. She is always the "second". Of course I respect Anneke, that is not part of the discussion. Greetings from Argentina!!!

This is awesome. Nowadays music videos are very often silly movie-like stories with the same music as on album (and probably with enormous budget). Here music is much more powerful, and you can hear different version of this great song. I love this version, because Marcela's voice is much more expressive, and whole band looks amazing. Incredible musicianship. And special mention to the singers. I mean Anneke's voice/stage presence is amazing and then you have Marcela providing top notch backing/harmonizing vocals for quite a challenging melody. The band are so tight also! Missed Arjen on stage though but... this was incredible guys :)

EPICCCCCCCCCCC !! Badass riff making - and helicopter hair twirling to the nth degree. Uber tight as those leather trousers Anneke is wearing. Love the chord progressions in this and the stop/starting - and Anneke is at the top of her game and loving it isn't she?. Her voice can adapt to anything, There is even an impersonation of Simone at 2.40 (and since Simone reveres Anneke - that's a gracious reciprocal gesture!). This is Anneke taking the world by storm (but will the rest of the world listen??). Their bloody loss.

haha Simone was and still is the most uneducated in music history, she only started singing because her boyfriend Mark wanted to copy his work with After Forever. She had no clue and just trying to copy Floor's early style and Nightwish first album. Never had anything to do with Anneke or Kari, she most certainly hasnt heard anything from the 3rd and the Mortal. K? bye thanks.

Shows how uneducated you are. There is even an interview with Simone where she acknowledges the important influence of Kari and Anneke on her development as a singer in her teens. You can even get it on KZbin. Plus she is utterly brilliant. Nothing like Anneke of course (except when Anneke impersonates her). It's just plain silly to compare two fantastic vocalists - equally great in their own ways. The crucial difference is a 12 year age gap, so Simone still has a chance of global outreach - whereas Anneke's opportunity for that has passed.. That is very sad incidentally as Anneke's quality deserved it. Having said that, with the material that Simone is currently singing, I doubt she will ever achieve it either (but it wont be because she hasn't got global potential because she has)
