Geoff was a crucial character because he provided a point of stability and trust. This gave the audience an occasional break from all the 'badness' going on... just as Eddie was able to collect his thoughts, get some support and 'home' his perspective in truth, we were able to as well. It made the twists seem less arbitrary, and made them way more effective. I also don't know why people talk about how the middle part was 'boring,' or didn't contribute to the story.

Susie expanding the plantation underground with entrance thru the stables and therefore bringing in new generators in episode 4, which were then stolen by the Wards in episode 5 2. Jimmy revealing to Gabrielle that theirs is only 1 out of 12 bases of production in episode 5, which is how Stevens shared with Eddie in episode 7 that they 'believed there are 11 more' aside from his house that the Glass family has under their pocket. By that time Jimmy hadn't known yet they acquired 2 more properties, so Eddie surprised Stevens ('13, actually') These were only a few that I was able to spot idk, moments like these are interesting to pick at

It is, as with all Guy Ritchies work, a master piece. Two strories running parralell to one another. The virtuous light bearer who wants to eradicate the darkness but realising you must know the darkness like you know your own face and this means having to play them at their own game in order to forfil your will. Mr Winstones character knows this all too well and Mr Glass is lining up a move with Mr Johnstone in readiness for action to prevent the light becoming so bright that his battle is no longer a fight. The second story is the cannanite evil doers with no god (soul) who control all facets of oir socierty and will stop at nothing to remain in power and control. Hacking you to pieces in a carpark is just in a days work. The light must rise and shine so bright on the dark that no corner is left where it can hide.

I think more than anything Eddie knows that the only real way to protect his family is to be at the top of the food chain. Doesn't have to have full control but enough to know what's going on at every point. He's good at playing the gentleman's game yes, but it's not for excitement or because he's trying to be a gangster. It's because he's seen how downhill you go if you try to say no to these gangsters. So he might as well play the game to protect his family. Which coincidentally is what his family has been doing for generations. I loved it because it shows how not so simple responsibilities are in this world. Like look at Mickey Pearson. He tried to get out and the moment others sensed weakness they came in. That's why to me Mr Glass doesn't want to really sell. He'll have no control over these assets and players. The thrill is there, yes. But they don't do it for the thrill. They do it to survive. Hence the whole jungle and zoo theme. You're either surviving in the jungle or living like waste 🗑 in the zoo. That's my take though.

So is the show tied to the movie?

I think adding that he was the father of some of the children was great bc the whole movie was him taking on a dad role.

I didn't realize at first that Stanley Johnstone was in the same prison as Mr Glass in the end

A very good story. Especially the first half part. As every series it has a tendency to keep the tempo or flow going. It’s still one of the greatest series for a long time. But a little too long

Collins was not killed because he has skills and contacts that both Eddie and Susie know they need to run their illicit weed enterprise.

I honestly liked the side quest aspect of the middle of the season. Gave the world a more fleshed out feeling and let us into the daily goings on of the various players involved in this criminal game. Not everything needs to be building up to a huge crescendo 24/7. That kind of serialized storytelling can get tiring and potentially up its own arse sometimes, at least for me.

I enjoyed this. But thought the plot hole to drive a van through was.. madass Jimmy being entrusted to drive a van of product !?!

i think its cause he was very loyal therefore trusted, but also disposable if it did get pulled over and i also think thats why it was deliberately a 1996 old transit so it would not attract attention and no one would think for a minute that it had such valuable cargo

Somehow I think Eddie and Susie are evolving into the micky pearson and his wife characters. Maybe in the next season they'll hook up and be this kingpin duo like in the movie

I dont know but i kinda liked the Mercy subplot. Admit it wasn't absolutely necessary but the story and the action itself was good. Like any Guy Ritchie movie it was an excuse to put in sexy cars and car chases.
@Elephantnegotiationsociety3 ай бұрын
honestly I felt like guy richtie was inspired heavily by Wes Anderson of all people. I know that sounds weird but there's some definite grand Budapest homages going on, and the editing and sound design. Idk maybe im wrong

This is an awesome series and I could have seen more eps if there were any! The casting was amazing and Theo James was the perfect lead along with an outstanding cast! Thank you Guy Ritchie! You are excellent!

I would have liked some sort of tie in to the movie. Nothing major, just a mention or cameo that confirms it’s in the same canon.

So how's the ownership structue in the end if dad retracted his exit? Ed & Susie's money buys in as partners to the biz now capped at 235m? Also, i don't think the Bobby issue was going to go away that easy- we're talking about his bro's life here.

I really liked it. The whole series felt more like an episodic show with overarching plot. I see each episode as a mini Guy Ritchie film and it was so much fun. They could release this weekly and it would work well.
