Tiny detail: You said 'tsingtao', which is the archaic wade-giles system, an archaic romanisation system based on Cantonese. The correct way to say Qingdao is more like 'Tjing dao', while dipping the A bit.

It's unfortunate, you left out an important aspect of Königsberg here. namely that the Königsberg's guns and their crew continued to play an important role until the end of the war in German East Africa. Under Paul von Lettow Vorbeck, the Cannons and the crew of the Königsberg helped the German troops there to survive the war until the end of 1918 without supplies from home; they were the only German colonial troops who were not defeated

The story of the loss of the Australian light cruiser HMAS Sydney in a battle with the German raider HSK Kormoran was one of Australia's worst naval disasters. It would make a great addition to your current WWI naval series (loving it!).

The Konigsberg main guns were not lost with the destruction of the ship: one of the ten Konigsberg 105 mm guns, together with a 88 mm gun that Konigsberg had to equip auxiliary vessels were used as main weapons for the Graf Goetzen a merchant ship transformed in auxiliary warship, operating in Lake Tanganika. Scuttled after the fall of Kigoma, Graf Goetzen was later recovered and is still working as a ferry as MV Liemba. Other guns were used by German colonial troops; The munts were built in a Dar Es Salaam mechanical workshop.

Admiral Von Spee was an excellent naval officer the battle of coronel one of his shining moments, although he understood that his days were now numbered because the British would come after him with everything they could throw at him. And they did just that.

Well... And you are aware of the fact, that von Spee surprised the British battle cruiser group, pants down, with nearly off engines and takin' coal in Port Stanley. And he decided, not to fight a surprise battle, but to try save the lives of his men and run for escape. That didn't work that well... But if he decided to attack, that would be a clay pigeon shooting for the Germans, with better shells, better fire controll and better optics...

I can recommend reading "Battle for the Bundu" by Paul Miller. It´s the amazing story of Von Lettows elusive defence campaign i German East Africa. The Königsberg story is a part of it, and told in great detail. As a Dane, I have also read Safari from Hell, which is the story of the "Kronborg" a supply ship which the Germans disguised as a Danish merchant ship in all details including a Danish crew. The South of Jutland was German from 1864-1920, so the Germans could easily pick Danish-speaking men from here and enlist them.

Imagine if Light Cruiser Konigsberg had copied Cruiser SMS Emden ! The Germans would have effectively reduced Indian Ocean trade by 50% for a few months . SMS Emden literally dealt a blow to the superiority of Allied Naval Fleet in Indian Ocean.

At least Germany dominated the Baltic Sea and prevented any British naval attacks against coastal towns and cities. Not to say landing operations like the one at Gallipoli.

Can you do the battles of the Falkland Islands and the battle of M’as a Tierra next and first battle was the battle of the Falklands which was fought on December 8th 1914 and the battle was fought between the German East Asian squadron and the British navy and the battle saw the destruction of the German East Asian squadron minus the Dresden and Emden and the death of admiral Von Spee however the Dresden wouldn’t escape back to the pacific as on March 14th 1915 off of Robinson Crusoe island a battle was fought and the battle that was fought was the battle of M,as a Tierra and during the Dresden world be cornered and scuttled however with the destruction of the Dresden the only German ships in the area would be the commerce raiders Seeadler and Wolf and among the crew onboard the Dresden was future admiral lieutenant Wilhelm Canaris and the 5th chief of the Abwehr.

Trying to make the germans into terrorist is nonsense at 3:01. It was a War they were terrorizing no one. They were not terrorizing the high seas or merchant conveys. All merchant shipping can be targets if they belong to the belligerents. That is pure propaganda to make them look bad. Perhaps this channel should look at fact and study the rules for navel warfare.

You're purposely misinterpreting my words, if you think there is any bias. I speak German and lived in Germany. I graduated uni writing my thesis on the post world war 1 Prussian democratic development. Stop trying to find some political motivation in my work, which isn't there. If anything your comment shows you know little about Germany's naval conduct during the great war. They simply were raiders. It was official policy.

Clearly you don't know what your talking about militarily and I didn't miss interpret anything. Raiding is a tactic and it was official policy of germanys that's why they're not "terrorist" or "terrorizing" as you made it out to be. It is also official policy of other nations as well. If you had said, "the Germans struck fear into the hearts of their opponents on the high seas" that might have been true. Terror is an emotion do to an action it is not policy as you have made it out to be even if it is insinuated. By the way I have lectured at the Marine Corpse Command and Staff Collage for years in Virgina and have been in three wars and revolutions. You need to grow up and be able to take criticism. You are thin skinned overly sensitive and as a young man you should be able to learn from your mistakes and have respect for those that were fighting for your freedom long before you were ever born. i like the video but as for pronunciation. Why do English speakers flat out refuse to pronounce names in their original language or as clost to it as possible, it is königsBERG not burg, the former means kings' mountain, the latter would mean kings' town, and i am neither german nor do i fluidly speak the language but this is somethingt that both the french and english-speakers do to every other language group
