The Gershwin songbook and Tatum touch applied to "The Man I Love" with bits of "Summertime" and "I Got Plenty o' Nuttin" and "It Ain't Necessarily So" from Porgy & Bess blended in. Even your "whoops" would be "eureka" moment for most of the rest of us. Art seems ever to smile over your shoulder as you play. As always the tweeters are adding their own Lullaby of Birdland - jealous little birdies! Well played!

Can't believe I only just found this. How totally marvellous. You have a tremendous talent and have clearly worked tirelessly to perfect this. Thank you so much :-)

As always, your playing is brilliant--especially love the captions on this one. I always learn so much from your vids. Your texture variations and microharmonies really capture Art's spirit. Also glad to hear the bird is well! ; ) PS You can run rings around all our Pgh pianists . .especially me!

Thanks, Yes Art loved those sensitive tones(#5,flat5,#11,etc.The r.h. runs are usually scale fragments repeated or arpeggio's. See the 2 finger run video,it may be helpful.

very brave of you to play this style. It's like the violin (or worse), if you don't master it, it just sounds terrible. But I'm glad to say you pull it off wonderfully!! Also glad this video is 11 minutes long, so I can just put it on while cooking, and not have to walk up and down.

@snbaci Before commenting you should check the rarity or the content of the video.I dont think you really know who is Art Tatum,it's very rare to find videos like the one posted by Rkjp56 It's sometimes the content of the video that matters and not the recording conditions, otherwise just go to watch 1 of the million fur elise videos, top quality of recording with top cameras but only 1 out of 10000000 players has something good to offer. Here is the opposite.Next time know that before commenting

You're GREAT!!! Performing those pieces is really super hard, you're a BEAST! I'd really like to study more deeply... Btw I'm curious to know whether those Tatum's long (fast) runs with the right hand are mostly arpeggios over some altered chords (like A#7th-5add9 or with 11 - 11# etc...)
