I think the best explanation for the Yiga Hideout being part of the zone in BotW was likely because you need to go there for progressing the Gerudo section of the main story.

Minor point of clarity: it’s a cherry blossom (sakura) tree, not a cherry tree. Cherry blossom trees were bred specifically to produce beautiful flowers, and while some of them do produce cherries, they aren’t a cherry you’d want to eat. Cherry trees, on the other hand make delicious fruit but have fairly nondescript white flowers.

Spectacle Rock may have also been inspired by Spectacle Island in The Wind Waker. It's a small island west of Windfall that shares its shape with the original rock formation in the NES game and this structure in the Era of the Wild games. Sometimes the water level rises *just* high enough to briefly cover the central beach and make it look like two separate islands.

These videos are great. But I'm also interested in comparing Hyrule in these games to Age of Calamity. It'd be a very different beast to tackle given the very different playstyles, and that you can go inside many of the buildings and structures that are not accessible in BoTW or ToTK, but it would be interesting, nonetheless. The canonicity of Age of Calamity is questionable as it obviously deviates from the main series of events, but Nintendo had a far larger role in the development and story of the game than the previous Hyrule Warriors game, and there's still a lot to compare between games. Edit: Fixed mistake in second sentence, correcting Breath of the Wild to Age of Calamity.
@TheZeldaEnthusiast8 ай бұрын
Did you mean to say that youre interested in comparing hyrule in these games to age of calamity? The canonicity of AoC is not in question. It's a spinoff series that's not connected to the LoZ story anymore than works of fan fiction, so i stray away from ising any info from that game when making points in the scripts for these comparisons... i guess other than the fact that i did mention king rhoam's use of the royal claymore in the great plat vid
@DarthTingleBinks8 ай бұрын
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast Yes, I did mean comparing these games to Age of Calamity. My bad. Edit: My personal takeaway of the game is that it's a timeline split (despite how much more complicated it makes the timeline, but I have no issue if anyone thinks otherwise. But a comparison in this level of detail still greatly interests me.
@NelsonTheAwesome6 ай бұрын
@@TheZeldaEnthusiastI know AOC isn’t technically canon but the Zelda team had a huge hand in the writing and cutscenes and I think they tried their best to make this a game that could be seen as an alternate timeline to BOTW’s past. It’s not the ACTUAL events of the great calamity but I feel like it gives you a certain hint of what could’ve happened as it’s easy to imagine certain things happened similarly but ended badly in the actual timeline. Plus I feel like too much work went into the design of past Hyrule I have to imagine Nintendo would consider that canon for how those areas of Hyrule did look

I'm BOTW, that long strip where the Yiga hideout is was probably done that way so you'd be able to see the objective. Desert tower was easier to find than highlands tower, so Devs didn't want a gerudo quest mission that was off in a dark portion of the map. That's my guess, at least
