Let me know what you all think of my “Get Home Bag” system. The idea is to always have a change of clothes on hand and ability to stock the pack on the fly dependent on the specific situation. It also gives me the advantage of gearing up a fellow traveler should I find myself in a bad situation with someone else.

Jeez! Every video I watch of your various packs and kits I am amazed at how much you are able to fit in fairly compact containers! Very thoughtful load-outs and great content! Thank you for listing everything with links - very helpful!

Thanks for sharing this kit, it’s definitely one of the better ones I’ve seen so well done. Also been hard to find a review of this pack so this has been super helpful in seeing how much you can fit in it. Thanks mate 🤙🏼

Nice system. I would recommend you add dedicated water filter in case you don't have time to transfer from EDC. Also, I would keep weapon kit and emergency survival kit somewhere you can access faster. You may have to ditch bag quickly. Thanks for the video.

Very similar setup to what I run, but my edc bag is partially empty to be used as a backpack normally would be for normal day to day stuff like lunch. Some basic emergency gear for any situation I might find myself in, just enough for a day or two. Then a half full bag with a shelter and more survival type gear. All the important stuff from the edc fits in the bigger bag for the longer trek if needed.

Great film man.👍 I've the same backpack, I like it very much. Helikon-tex make amazing stuff. Another polish brand is wisport, they make very good quality backpack's. Take it easy, love from Great Britain.🇬🇧

Okay where to start... But you have a new follow! 1) You should be able to access anything in your bag in seconds, from anywhere. Pulling stuff out to get to other stuff is a serious nope. 2) It's pronounced 'she-mag'. And you need know how to wear it right otherwise it's just a rag. 3) Wear a cap (or better, a boonie) at ALL times. No need to stow it. 4 Spare clothing 'kit' inside the main pack only helps if it's in a waterproof bag (inside the pack). Work on the assumption that EVERYTHING you carry will ALWAYS be wet. Mitigate this with electronics in a dedicated WATERPROOF bags. 5) Wool gloves are comfy but provide no grip/dexterity and are three-times their weight when wet. Try it! Put up a tent with wet wool gloves and get back to me! And a MITTEN?... $5 builders gloves at your local hardware store. Job done. 6) Beenie and neck gaitor... Beenie yes, but why are you trying to be disguised? You should be as FAR AWAY from anyone else in a SHTF event... 7) Jeans!? Get some lightweight pants that are designed for outdoor activities. Jeans are literally the worst thing you should be wearing. Heavy, slow to dry, ugh. 9) "If i'm at a prom or at the beach..." 10) I'm done...

I just ordered that MK2 Raccoon pack. I've been using a 5.11 Rush 12 2.0 for my GHB for a while now, but I wanted something that was just slightly smaller. Hopefully it fits the bill.

Super nice pack and gear. Good thoughts. I always struggle with weight, you may want to watch out for that. I also go back and forth on the food. Should it be edible with no cook time, or is it worth the time to stop and eat a good meal. One thing I would add to the pack is a silcock key if you are in urban type area.
@DontForgetYourLunch35

Thanks. The gear/weight ratio is an ongoing struggle. I do have a silcock key in my EDC bag but I could add one here for redundancy.

Very good system. Tip: check if the water bladder fits your bag if it is full. Some people have no extra space in the bag. So if they use it it does not fit.

Good point. My plan is to remove the shoes and clothing, which then should free up plenty of space, but rehearsing to work out the kinks is definitely a good idea.

when EDC is bigger and better than GHB ;). joke aside, nice setup :) . i'd add few lockable biners to that rope setup, maybe even lightweight ATC (wont add much weight but WILL save you a lot of time and energy if you'll ever have to use it as bail out device). i use rigger belt as my EDC, and its strong enough to act as last resort half climbing harness (tested with 450 pound weight dropped 6 ft deep few times), 10ft of tubular webbing for leg harness and two biners +ATC. doesnt take much place, but always at had if i'd need it :) .

SO, let's get some clarity and reality errbody! EDC containing ⬇️ - Chapstick: Great to have when dehydrated, used daily hence EDC relevance, useful as fire starter and can also be used to lubricate a firearm or protect a wound (versions can also be purchased with antibiotic properties). - Firearm: If you can and desire to do so, a pistol with a few spare mags or box of ammo. No delusional long guns and chest rigs 🙄. - Knife: It's uses are obvious. - Water Purification tablets: Throw 4 or so in a wallet or purse and your good for 4-8 liters (that'd more than cover anyone's get home trip if paired with water that's already onboard). - Quality lighter: Obvious uses. - Duct tape: Wrap a few feet around the lighter. Can be used to patch things but more importantly as moleskin for your feet and any places that may chafe. Also replaces a booboo kit. That said, if you need a booboo kit you don't need a booboo kit 😂, so toss it. Lick the wound and keep pushing. - Flashlight: Small or keychain sized. Just incase your phone goes down. - Bag: This should only contain food, water, map and a compass (if and only if you expect to be in an area that you're unfamiliar with. But most of us have no issue finding our way home from most places we frequent). You could get away with doubledup Walmart bags but a decent pack to manage the weight is smart. But if you don't have the budget a $5 backpack from the thrift store is good. - Food: Non-cook, ready to eat food ONLY. Enough to match close as possible (watch pack weight) to the caloric requirements of the trip you'd be likely to face. - Water: LIQUID IV

Your first option should always be Phone a friend (AAA) a.k.a. call a tow truck. It is best not to abandon your vehicle. Put your clothes in garbage bag inside a separate backpack (change when you need to use the get home bag), fill your get home bag with more items like a sleeping bag and more water. Also consider adding a secondary conveyance to your get home gear (ie. folding bicycle, scooter, one wheel or skateboard). This will increase your mobility and make an 8 hour walk into a 2 or 3 hour ride. Last piece of advise is to practice your route (typically to and from work) to iron out any kinks that may arise and eliminate items that don't prove useful.

That’s an interesting idea. My reason for removing the items is so viewers can see how all the items really do fit it the bag, as well as in what order I pack things. Still getting better at this KZbin thing so hopefully I can streamline videos in the near future.

The get home concept is contingent on the actual SHTF. There are many scenarios where masking your identity could be an advantage. Plus it is very low profile doubles as a neck/face warmer if needed.

Why not just have one ,well stocked bag with gear that you have used and trust. All these survival channels seem to have lovely new ,unused content and It seems to me, as a non American , that most of these channels are full of bulls*it . I suggest you guys look at the British survival presentations as they are far superior and more realistic compared to the stuff you paranoid Americans view.
