Been looking forward to this video coming out! I really enjoyed taking the qualifier pre-quiz, even if it was a bit of a reality check on my Gettysburg knowledge. Still, a great reminder of how much there always is to learn, no matter what you think you know. Grateful for the American Battlefield Trust for always finding new ways to get people talking about battlefield preservation!

Thanks so much to the ABT for putting this all together! This event was so much fun and it was a real privilege to meet some great people, staffers and contestants and audience members too. And a great excuse to go to Gettysburg!

I looked at the qualifier quiz and quickly decided that I could not possibly be a Gettysnerd... Though I definitely qualify being a nerd of a Gettys! One of the few questions I could answer, who James Gettys' father was, of course has many answers because the question did not specify which James Gettys!

Nice.

@@AmericanBattlefieldTrust for example, there are two James Gettys of Gettysburg. The first father was Samuel, and the second's father was James. And as soon as you go further afield you get many other answers as well... In my case, the answer is Charles Briggs Gettys....

Very enjoyable, well done, loved the good natured banter. Also loved that it was low tech and traditional.

I watched this before I went to bed last night. It made me feel stupid. Any of the panelists could have won. And when I fell asleep, Tim Smith was in my dream.

wish i had Garys energy, great stuff. i had 3 reletives in the civil war 2 were surgeons (brother's) and 1 was an infantryman, who was captured and then told the confederates he would fight for them, then when released immediately went back to the north. he also was in the Fredericksburg battle, among others

@@AmericanBattlefieldTrust yes I did. Is this going to be annual event now or just this year? I did the qualifying test. Obviously didn’t make the cut. The video looked like a lot of fun. Y’all did a good job.

I once planted a small flag at the Willard Monument. I turned around, and it was being eaten by a cow. Long time ago.

Still have to say that I don’t think it’s fair for guides to take that test and I don’t believe that many did as I’ve heard someone state. Why does a guide need to prove they’re a Gettysnerd😂

This looks like fun. However, the first question in any Civil War trivia contest should be, What caused the Civil War? It's depressing how many buffs know detailed orders of battle for every encounter but have their minds polluted with Lost Cause nonsense.
