@@mihailmilev9909 I think you're talking about the bugle which is not the same as the baroque natural trumpet which is made to play mainly in the high range the baroque trumpet is a natural trumpet with added holes for the ease of correcting the intonation (especially the 11th and 13th harmonics) and is a modern invention

That grip with your left hand is somewhat reminiscent of the way one would hold a rotary valve trumpet. I wonder if you held it just a bit further down the bell if that would also help with finding the various positions on the slide, and be a bit more stable as you moved the slide.

That’s certainly an unusual construction for a brass instrument; the slide looks like it used an elbow and tubing normally used for the 3rd valve slide on a standard Bb trumpet except for tube length. I can see where a soprano trombone would be more practical. I’m just surprised that you didn’t include Blue Bells of Scotland in Eb as part of the demo. :)

So the cover of the book also says "slide cornet" and slide "flugelhorn". I'm wondering if those instruments exist and how they could exist. Also, I know you were hoping to construct a sopranino trombone by combining the bell section of the piccolo trombone onto the soprano trombone slide. I know it's a long shot but perhaps putting that slide trumpet slide onto the piccolo trombone bell if it fits might work? I know the sopranino trombone in the real sound of trombones was a custom made trombone in F. I might see if I can just make one myself one day. Just a couple thoughts
@TrentHamilton

I think those variants are likely to be similar, but with a more conical bell section. I can't find any major sources that show photos. I wonder if the slides are more spaced apart.

That's interesting, compared to the premodern slide trumpets I'd seen, this would obviously handle more like a trombone in that it has a slide bent back on itself, as opposed to the single telescoping section used to change keys on the ancestral slide trumpets.

@@mihailmilev9909 as Maxwell said, a silly rhythm game which features trombones. It had it first burst of popularity at launch, now it's getting progressively more popular as more rhythm game channels are discovering the custom tracks and how well people picked up on making those. So you get more and more people searching for "Trombone Champ", which may by chance cause YT to suggest more trombone content in general like Trent's videos. A few seconds of indipendent research would've let you connect the two ends together.

I was also wondering that, as the slide still reaches out to in front of the bell... Maybe this is simply another kind of soprano trombone, with a denser slide to allow for more sliding space (and that 7th position you cannot reach on an ordinary soprano trombone)? We had some discussions about slide trumpets vs. soprano trombones on the Swiss Trombone Day a couple of weeks ago, apparently many people (including trombonists) have no clue about the differences...

So did they really make the receiver just barely catch the mouthpiece or is the mouthpiece a mile long? It looks like a Trumpet mouthpiece in a Cornet reciever, but uhh...I don't think you'd be able to reach a Cornet mouthpiece past the bell bow. I'm confuzzled. 🤨

@bruh_moment
@bruh_moment Жыл бұрын
Not sure if you still need help but the positions should be in the same relative spot to the bell as on a tenor trombone so a video explaining those may be what you are looking for. As for what notes on trumpet the 7 positions correspond to: 1st position is the same as open fingerings on trumpet, 2nd is the same as 2nd valve, 3rd is 1st valve, 4th is (1st and 2nd)/3rd valve, 5th is 2nd and 3rd valve, 6th is 1st and 3rd, and finally 7th is all valves down. Basically as the slide extends think of going down chromatically on trumpet

The "Holy Roman Empire Trumpetters Guild" would not recognize this instrument as a Trumpet of any kind with the slide passing beyond the bell like that. I think these "Basically a midget trombone" arrangement of the slide shouldn't be called a Trumpet, and if you want to call a slide instrument a Trumpet, then we already have the historical examples of the tromba da tirarsi and the Flatt Trumpet. As per the Guild patent, a trumpet should have no tubing extending past the Bell.
