Understanding only half the dialogue makes it really surreal. But his words are gold that should reflect in the heart of any animator.

Not jealous but positively impressed. For all you know, it makes a great difference.

When Mr Norstein speaks of his childhood fire fascination it reminded me of Gaston Bachelard's book (french philosopher) "La Psychanalyse du Feu" (1938)/"The Psychoanalysis of Fire". A must read along his other works like : "L'eau et les rêves" (1942)/"Water and Dreams", "L'air et les songes" (1943) /"Air and Dreams", "La terre et les rêveries de la volonté" (1948)/ "Earth and Reveries of Will", "La terre et les rêveries du repos" (1948)/"Earth and Reveries of Repose", "La poétique de la rêverie "(1960) /"The Poetics of Reverie : Childhood, Language, and the Cosmos". ^^

I would like it if the Japanese part were animated as well. But I guess I'll have to search for this interview somewhere else.

This might be not that obvious for non-Russian speakers, but Norstein makes a solid impression of being jealous to Miyazaki’s success.
