That is not what, the British Empire was expanding, and was racing against other European Empires over control of Africa. America was not a Superpower. Nor, was anybody in America interested in Africa. The engineer of bridge Lieutenant-Colonel John Henry Patterson of the British Army hunted down the loin himself with nobody’s help. John Henry Patterson kept the “female loins” corpse, until his death. The Field’s Museum of Science and Industry brought them from Patterson’s estate, but you would have to actually watch the movie to know that.

This is based on a true story,but there's a big part not mentioned.The 2 lions would stalk and eat the workers.Now,what was confusing,was that lions,in the wild, attack to defend its territory or for food.The 2 lions would just attack and kill and kill. Even to this day,animal experts are perplexed.

I find it hard to believe that Kilmer didn't cause any trouble on this movie. Difficult actors are typically difficult from movie to movie. He must've been so burned out from The Island of Dr. Moreau and other troubles in his personal life that he had zero energy in him to even create a litte bit of tension on the set.

I'm actually a very big fan of this movie, having read the book that Patterson wrote about the killings and having seen the lions myself at the Field museum in Chicago. But Douglas had a bit of an ego considering Remington is a completely fictional character they created for the movie. In my opinion it didn't add anything to the flick at all. But that's just me. This movie, made 87 million off of 55 million budget. 30+ million profit. Con Air: 75 million budget 224 million Box Office. 100+ million profit. Edge of Tommorow: 178 million budget. 370.5 box office. 190+ million profit.
@KinoReel-c4f2 күн бұрын
Con Air has title "The Story of the Film". When I say "box office" it doesn't mean studio got all the money. Movietheaters receive around 50%, China - 75%. Usually you have to take budget and multiply it by 2 to break even. And don't forget about marketing budget, it is not a part of movie production budget.
@ComoGotasdeAguaCine2 күн бұрын
If a movie doesnt make at least twice its production budget, is a flop. A movie usually breaks even when it makes 3x times its production budget. Obviously a movie can be a flop theatrically but make tons of money on video as did Showgirls with only 20 mill in boxoffice but 100 million on rental over a 40 mill production budget. Hope this clarifies.

@erickvonengelwalten856817 сағат бұрын
Even so, it was and it is one of the best predator/hunt movies ever made. No bullshit CGI... The story is almost the same as the original, but i think they should let be more vague, misterious and spellbound like the description in the books were the lions are so supreme, that Patterson felt defeated and beated all the time.
