The God Rack rundown I've been promising is finally here! Check out this in depth dive into our redundant Neural DSP Quad Cortex racks, In Ear set up and playback rig! I realized during the editing process that I probably could have been more detailed with some of the explanations, so if you have questions about anything drop them in the comments! I'll be sure to do better about that with The God Rack v2 later this year 😈!

Yeah having the fly rack option is a life saver! The v2 of the god rack set up were working on is actually to make it easier to ship the whole rack all over the world with us for tour, but we’ll still use the fly racks for fly dates and one offs!

It’s crazy to see how much work goes into planning out a system like this. I’m also amazed at how all of those signals go from the stage, get split and processed by the QC’s/vocal chain/trigger module, and then back out to your IEMs and FOH with minimal to no latency. So cool to see you break it down piece by piece!

Nice rig and rundown! The iConnectivity interfaces seem like a big single point of failure, do you have backups for those too?
@ChrisDavisTGI
@ChrisDavisTGI 4 күн бұрын
Not currently, but they're built for this exact application and there are a TON of these units out running shows larger than ours nightly and I've heard of very few failures thankfully! Im sure at some point I will snag back up units to bring along with us!

This was so cool. Loved the editing. Do you have a redundancy for the C laptop? What happens if that goes out?
@ChrisDavisTGI
@ChrisDavisTGI 8 күн бұрын
No redundancy for the c laptop or the Apollo, but in my experience and from talking to a ton of playback guru’s working with arena and stadium level artists, the Apollo would be the last thing to go down in our rig haha. Those interfaces are super stable and the C computer isn’t really doing any processing, it’s just hosting the Universal Audio Console app which tells the Apollo what plug ins to turn on and off, the processing is happening in the interface itself. I consulted a company that specializes in building playback racks when I was planning this out and they told me that they send artists heavily relying on vocal processing into arenas with one Apollo and one Console host computer all the time which shocked me to be honest haha

Amazing Rig! What are your thoughts on the Pitch block of the QC? Is the sound quality good enough ( latency, artifacts) for live use, for different tunings, instead of bringing many guitars in different tunings on the road? Cheers
@ChrisDavisTGI
@ChrisDavisTGI 8 күн бұрын
It’s actually great! We use it pretty heavily throughout our set! I try not to go more the a step or step and a half down if I can avoid it, and staying within that range it’s pretty clean and convincing, especially in a full mix! I know plenty of people using it to go down 2 1/2 steps or more and still loving it as well! Latency is no problem either!

I’m a brainstormer and idea guy, I dreamed up the whole rig and tried to imagine all of the worst case scenarios so that we could be prepared for anything! Brad and his team at BTPA built the actual racks for us and then Rob at JustInCase built the case for us and I just slid the racks in and wired them together! Brad and Rob are the real pros!

Guitar, into wireless body pack which sends the guitar signal to the wireless receivers in the rack and then straight to the Quad Cortex racks!

Is there some type of redundancy for the Apollo?
@ChrisDavisTGI
@ChrisDavisTGI 8 күн бұрын
Not in our set up, that would require a second interface and I just didn’t want to spend that money when the Apollo’s are so stable. We do have a dry split of the vocals built into the playback I/O panel that we could swap over to super fast if needed
