For your color scheme question: I say do Alpha Legion, but in a half & half scheme that looks like Imperial Fists (or another faction) decloaking into the Alpha Legion aqua scales color

I like it, as we saw how he does open warfare in the book even adding some simple hiding to it. You should go Iron Warriors, but if it has to be one of those choices Red Corsairs. But really you having Iron Warriors even for others/guests to play for your narrative games.

4 Reasons You Should Pick the 4th Legion: 1. It would look awesome for Narrative Battles/Displays. 2. Barabas Dantioch was a real one. 3. You could actually paint It vs. Paying for a Commission. Maybe. But if you read the book (Harrowmaster) you will understand the reason behind Solomon Akurra's vision. Being in the shadows and dispersed over 10K years had made them irrelevant and ineffective. Each warband not able to tell what the other was doing and following a vague or completely perverted idea of what a dead Primarch wanted them to do in a long forgotten past.

You could have both together. Say, Alpha Legion force with piratical mercenaries from the Red Corsairs, or vice versa. I remember back in the 2nd edition codec, the Red Corsairs were just renegades who applied some red to their armor. They could be any legion otherwise.

I am a big Fan of the Alpha Legion but I am getting more and more into the Red Corsairs and Huron as a chracter. So in conclusion you should paint Iron Warriors

I think the coolest lore would be if, when the imperium finally musters, we get scenes of what's it's like to fight the Astra Militarum. Scenes of horror as Arco-Flaggelants break through defenses and Space Marines butcher their forces. Scenes where Commissars fire both directions and the horror of the Imperium is shown instead of some glourious victory from their perspective.

"Red corsairs or Alpha Legion ?" Why choose ? You can also make a red corsair and say "today there's AL infiltrators" 🙂 I took Alpha Legion for my 30k army as it allowed me to roleplay as both loyalist or traitor (we have none of the key words in the index astartes), or use them in 40k on both side, and even battle another alpha legionnaire army and still be lore wise corect :) Also loved the paints schemes it offered, and the special units. I painted some marines on other legions just to have fun and use them as saboteur proxies The lore and deep lore about the Legion is awesome i think, from the origins of Alpharius (is Primarch novel is amazing), the hinted civil war / double allegiance. All is lies, but all is fun on the tabletop :)

Do them both paint half your army alpha legion and half red corsairs , they are the masters of disguise and you could run red corsairs as alpha legion maybe even do a few models decloaking Half alpha legion half red corsairs to sell the effect

Obviously Valrak should go with whatever warband gets a new HQ first. If Huron Blackheart gets a new mini, Red Corsairs. If Solomon Akkura gets a mini, then its Alpha Legion.

I think you should 100% paint the Alpha Legion. This lore is so much fun, because the fun thing about being in the open is: you don't reveal yourself without an ace up your sleeve. If an Alpha Legion commander reveals himself, it's because he's hiding something behind him. Plans within plans within plans.

I havent seen alot of people talk about it but in the alpharius novel that talks about finding omegon it is shown at the end that when he found omegon that they switched places so alpharius was omegon and omegon was alpharius, so its very very very very likely that when "alpharius" died on pluto that it was actually omegon and this is based on the fact that its actually said so in the alpharius novel, the entire reason why the first line says "i am alpharius, this is a lie" not because alpharius is secretive and a liar, but because the entire book is actually omegon recounting the story told to him by his brother alpharius who was found on terra very soon after the primarch were scattered and i believe this is the case because the last line of the book when omegon is facing horus after the deception to introduce the alpha legion primarch to the imperium publicly, when horus asks him his name, the quote from the last line of the book is ("i am alpharius" this was a lie)

He's also, IIRC, sitting on a pile of dead Primaris and may be considering trying to make Primaris of his own, or even come up with a new way for his Marines to cross the Rubicon Primaris. If he pulls this off, not only will there be a growing expansion of Alpha Legion influence in Guilliman's backyard, but one no longer limited to the use of Firstborn Astartes gene seed and equipment, capable of standing up to Boot-Boot's Blueberry Boy Scouts and any other chapters who have and utilize Primaris...but one capable of infiltrating Primaris chapters and selling the secrets of Primaris to other rogue/renegade/Chaos chapters, potentially eroding at whatever edge the Primaris provide in the long term. I don't know about y'all, but that seems like the sort of devious f**kery that would make Alpharius and/or Omegon gleeful.

The next primarch should be the real Alpharius (Omegon for those who know) as he is still alive, we all know that the real Omegon (Alpharius) was killed while his spirit was in a marines body by Dorn, so something could be done with that aswell… maybe his spirit finally returns to his primarch body. It does seem like the alpha legion could use some attention.

Join me in the glory of the Red Corsairs! I've started by painting Nurgle corrupted Red Corsairs, which hasn't proven easy to paint, lol. But I'm eager to build and paint some of my unbuilt Chaos Marines as RC's. Why not do a squad of Alpha Legion who have "joined" the Red Corsairs after "feeling their legion isn't what it was" but are actually just keeping tabs on Huron.

I thought you were already an Alpha Legionaire posing as an Imperial Fist. Seriously though, it would depend on the way you wish to play. If you want to go full Chaos warp and mutation, Red Corsairs. If you wish to play a more tactical renegade warband, Alpha Legion. Not that both can't play both, of course. It's just how I believe it would serve you better.

Listen Red Corsairs are cool and all, but Alpha Legion actually has lore with the Imperial Fists! AND, they're a blue/teal color which will contrast nicely with your Ad Mech and Fists. Hydra Dominatus!
