Abandoned fishing nets, known as ghost nets, make up 10 per cent of all marine trash. Every year 640,00 tonnes (705,500 tons) of the nets enter the oceans, ensnaring wildlife and devastating marine ecosystems. Hong Kong diver Harry Chan has made it his life’s mission to fight ghost nets, and so far he and his team of volunteers have removed 60-70 tonnes of such debris from Hong Kong waters. “I have been tangled quite a few times,” Chan says, admitting that on a few occasions he almost got killed. “But some things, someone has to do it.”

sir, if you are using motorized boats, please try to minimalize the use of them! there is a video on it, kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaPTnI2hrLmpq5I "Why the ocean is getting louder" and it is because of motorized boats! fish have evolved to become loud to commuincate over the sound of motorized boats; it is the equivalent of screaming just to talk to your friend! so please, kind sir; if you can, please use normal paddle boats~ thank you! and thank you for your many works!

Fishing fleets should be held accountable. I have seen whales trapped by nets. It is wrong to abandon nets.

They fish according to demand, less consumtion is the most realistic way to force them to do less of this, otherwise they will just break the law and only few will be caught.
