I don't think the Xbox news were as bad as the PlayStation ones, because altho we lost some pretty talented studios, and maybe potential good future games, we don't know the actual future. We didn't lose access to any games, which is what happened with PlayStation (in fact, it looks like we're getting CoD on Game Pass now, which is insanely good, and there are more upcoming big projects from Xbox. They're just basically chasing money over anything else, like if they were becoming the Disney of the gaming industry). We don't know the ramifications of all this, and what's the true story behind what happened, which is why no one trusts Xbox right now, so we aren't experiencing any negative consequences right at this moment, while PlayStation news would mean that tomorrow many, many people may not have access to Ghost Of Tsushima, and if the backlash isn't big enough, we may not have access to any single future PlayStation games on PC. Honestly, I have no idea how the Xbox news can sound worst than that. Maybe from a selfish point of view of "well, I'm not in those countries, so who cares?", but if we are a little bit more thoughtful... these PlayStation move is a really big deal. I don't think I've ever seen something this anti-consumer in my life. They were quite literally trying to get out with selling you a game at a full price, and then making you lose access to it a couple months after. No, I don't think that the Xbox news are even close to being as bad at what Sony is trying to do on PC.

The PC audience, is not as unforgiving as you describe, and are defending "brands" as much as the console crowd does. Games with "mixed" or "mostly negative" ratings, can still sell millions of copies, it's all about promotion, which will be the case for this game as well. 🤔

Consoles are a closed ecosystem especially for first party titles, sony are too used to taking the role of primary platform owner rather than accepting that on PC they're equals to the other publishers and are going to have to either adapt to the nuances of PC gaming or withdraw back into the playstation bubble.

PlayStation account linking is fine if you want to play multiplayer and Sony is supporting the servers. But single player should be optional and thegame available in countries that don't have PlayStation account access. Sony blew it with Helldivers by releasing it worldwide without requiring an account then springing it 3 months in. They deceived customers and pulled the game from unsupported regions. Why does Sony want to forgo $ like that to force account linking? Maybe datamining? Maybe forcing subscriptions?

I am not sure about most people but I use my steam deck for offline games like during travel so not having access to legends isn't a issue. You only need the PSN shit for the multiplayer. Which in my mind GoT is very clearly a campaign driven game with multiplayer as like the bonus content. I think that if Sony didn't try to do what they did with Helldivers 2. It wouldn't be as bad to need a PSN account for the multiplayer but like pulling the base game from the store in all the 177+ countries that can't get PSN is dumb as shit.
