I lived there with my family from 1961-66.Picked wild strawberries on the railroad tracks Loved swimming in the creeks and playing the Flintstones. Great place to grow up.

Thank you. This was interesting... to the point, and no annoying music soundtrack. I'm subscribing!

Thank you Jim. I've been to Bonnell many times while out for a ride. I grew up listening to you on radio.

Great job. Excellent presenter skills (a rare thing on KZbin) and a pleasant voice to boot.

I love to drive down there to just get away from everything it's nice to do once in awhile

Growing up five minutes from Bonnell and spending many nights "hanging" in the ghost town is the reason I used the name in the book and movie Dane Granger. Something happened to me when I was growing up.... I found myself and will never forget the growth that occurred on those tracks.

Oh the ghost stories you'd hear if you hung our there past dark! Used to ride horses down there and play in the creeks!

Jim did two of these videos for me. The other one was the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dearborn County, Indiana. He did a great job on both!

1:29 Although it might have been done to improve obstructed sightlines such as may exist on a hillside curve, high-mount switch lamps such as the one pictured here are usually indicative of significant snowfall during Winter. Were it at traditional ground level, two-feet or more of snow would suffocate the lamp and necessitate it being dug out--once the lamp was located!

Is that train still stuck in the mountainside? That was freaky when I first saw it I used to go down there in the early 90s went to east central in high school and met the kids my age and hung out in Milan Bonnell Guilford all over the place just driving around from place to place because we would all jump in the car and everyone knew different people from different places so we just drove around nothing else to do in Indiana hardly ever saw any cops on them back roads lol

Travel slowly and stop often, well that was when Purdue was a handful of buildings in the corn and your model T broke down often.
