The Morrow, Ohio area is littered with "Ghost Towns". These are towns that once flourished but now are completely gone or only have a few houses remaining. These disappeared for a multitude of reasons including transportation and floods. In this video we cover the Ghost Towns of Fredericksburg, Millgrove, Hammel, Senior Powder Mill, Mounts Station, Osceola and Level Station.

My family lived in Morrow County in the late 1930s. and I was born in Maringo in 1937. I visited Maringo a few years ago for the first time since my family moved to NC in 1940 and was happy to find it was a small but active town. Thanks for a great vidio!

Very interesting and you don't find this much when people talk about history. I hope you do more of these. I'm working my way from the oldest to the newest so maybe you have.

I grew up in Windsor, OH. Most of today's maps don't show it, but I still have older maps and an old Atlas with it listed and shown. There used to be road signs on all of the roads leading into Windsor, marking the Village Limits. Those seemed to disappear back in the late 80s or early 90s. During the late 60s and early 70s, my Dad owned and operated the only Gas Station/Garage of Level Station(the building still stands). Once upon a time, I LITERALLY knew every Citizen by name...even the last Mayor(I bought a Ford Maverick from him). Good people! Great FRIENDS!! Before my Time, Windsor earned its nickname Level Station from the Railroad due to the flatness of the land around the Train Stop. I remember the Depot before being torn down. When people ask me where I come from, I try to tell them "I'm from a little Town that no longer exists in a forgotten corner of the County.", but it comes out as "I'm from Blan(chester)." because of our mailing address. Level Station lies entirely in a different Mailing Zone and as a child it was called my Backyard. lol The West end of our property bordered Windsor, Ohio.

@@historyinyourownbackyard2363 Morrow-Woodville Road, South of Butlerville. 2.5 miles West of Blanchester, on the North side of OH-28. The building on the corner of OH-28 & Morrow-Woodville Rd. used to be a Texaco in the 60s and 70s, and a Marathon in the 80s. As you turn from OH-28 onto M/W Rd., heading toward Butlerville, there was a Windsor sign on the right. From there to the other side of the RR tracks lies the town of Level Station. The old Hotel still stands next to the tracks, as a private house now. The North border of town was at Bindley-Mounts Rd. and M/W Rd.

@@historyinyourownbackyard2363 Leaving Blanchester, head West toward Goshen on OH-28. 2 miles West of the Curves(RR Underpass), 2nd road on right. As soon as you turn Right on M/W Rd. you are entering Windsor. The Cemetery is located on the corner of OH-28 & Woodville Rd.(on the South side of OH-28) and Windsor lies on the North side of OH-28. It's basically where Woodville Rd. zig-zags across OH-28.

Thanks for posting. I grew up around Morrow and Butlerville that you mentioned. I wonder why someone in Ohio would be flying a confederate flag?
