Nice video, the 47s looked good. Also 37521 was actually up in Scotland to support the Pullman presumably because of the delays last weekend due to slipping.

Another nice line up Les, regarding the gypsum flow presumably GBRf lost out to Freightliner when the contract came up for renewa?
@LeslieGilpinRailwaysАй бұрын
Actually DB Cargo lost it. It'd been in a bit of confusion I think as to how often British Gypsum were to get deliveries unloaded at Tees Dock.
@johncherrington6080Ай бұрын
@@LeslieGilpinRailways Ah thnks Les, it was the GBRf branded wagons that confused me.

What Mk is that coach, two before 47746 on departing Carlisle - the one with the odd windows? I can't ever recall seeing that style of top lights before. The narrowness makes me think of the windows of a bus.
@LeslieGilpinRailwaysАй бұрын
@@roboftherock it's a MK2 and I've seen it before on a charter. No idea why it has those toplights.

I read somewhere it was experimental by Riviera Trains so enthusiasts could hear the locos and prevent "door hanging" because there were problems with people leaning out the drop light windows. Another was in case the Aircon failed. Not sure how true it is/was.
@LeslieGilpinRailwaysАй бұрын
@pn112upfast sounds plausible
@roboftherockАй бұрын
@@pn112upfast As Les says above, quite plausible. I managed to get a frame that shows the coach number fairly clearly, but the latest info I have on that coach is at least 2 years old now, so no help there. I don't really go for the air-con expanation, it sounds so much less plausible.

In a time long ago? the Tesco train would have been a composition not in the rule book, that is empty wagons between power and train. Brakes being what they where there was a possibility of sending the empties vertical and derail. Brakes of the now must be so well adjusted as this is now not a threat to a train? The rail top treatment trains are a complete wreck to the clean loco policies of the rest of the year?
@cedarcamАй бұрын
Some wagons have loaded or empty position so brakes are same through the train. Years ago there were more rules about loaded and empty wagons in train composition
@LeslieGilpinRailwaysАй бұрын
I think Cedarcam has answered your question. I had no idea
@cedarcamАй бұрын
@@LeslieGilpinRailways I don't know just how it works but reduces the brake force on empties so the wheels do not lock and cause derailment. They used to mix 45t and 100t tanks and I once saw a 45t between 2 x 100t lifted off the rails luckily dropping back on them as he driver eased them off. Later that was banned after a few derailments and 45t ones had to be marshalled together usually at the rear.
