I never thought going "All In!" last offseason was ever the right move or just a smart thing to do. The talent the Giants needs was just not there. That offseason began and ended at Ohtani and Yamamoto. There wasn't any needle moving talent after that. There were good players for sure but almost all of them have been busts this season and not just for the Giants, everyone has been had. What we are seeing is what would have happened if the Giants DIDN'T go All In last offseason. It just took a while. We need top end position players and a pitching regiment that can work even if we don't throw 95+ MPH because we burn everyone out. Needing 10 Starters to make it through a season is not going to happen!

Cobb was guaranteed 8 million, so the actual cost was the roster slot and only 2 million. Even if Cobb never pitches this year there was never a debate about bringing him back.

They are referencing pitchers who have never pitched as much as they have this season. They are referencing hicks and Harrison only. It is pretty obvious the innings count is definitely getting to hicks and Harrison.

@@lukephilipp6777 they are starting pitchers - every team has them and they all pile up a lot of innings. If they want to be critical of something - focus on how few innings Giants starters pitch in the minors and how woefully unprepared they are to go deep into games when they come up

I think it is fair to call out utilizing those two guys as much as the giants have knowing that their could be diminishing returns down the line

All young pitchers are on place to pitch more than they ever have before Same with relievers who switch to starting. What is Melvin supposed to do, only pitch them for 3 inning? The problem. Is not that they are going to pitch more than they have before, that's the natural development of young pitchers The problem is the other pitchers who they are counting on who are unavailable.

Starting pitchers are not nearly as durable as they were before. This is a MASSIVE issue that MLB is refusing to address, and pitchers are being sacrificed at the altar of high velocity and more movement.
