Hey Dylan! My husband and I met you at the Garage this afternoon. You were SO incredibly nice to us starting in the Epiphone room going all the way to the Gibson room. We finally found a Gibson we wanted to try, but then of course we couldn't find YOU! The other salesperson wasn't as willing to get something down for us to try, so we ended up leaving. On the way home (we are from Alabama) I was like WAIT A MINUTE! I think that was the guy from the Casino Guitars video! All this to say, we will be back, we are in the market, and we will make sure you're working that day. Thanks for being SO incredibly nice to me today.

You know the custom Shop team aren't going to pick a dud top.. idk..I can't imagine dropping $12-15K USD on a new Les Paul...at some point a something in the vintage market (70's, 80's, 90's...msybe even 60's, depending on model and year) has to be looking pretty good..with a far higher return.. probably! Diiig the Fuzzz tone at the end! Velcro-y! ✌️😎

Holy shit, $1k upcharge to choose your wood. You can choose your wood at Warmoth and get the damn thing painted/finished for less than that. I've come to the realization I'll never own one of these out of principal.
@DeirdreSM
@DeirdreSM 3 жыл бұрын
It is a $195 (on up) upcharge at Warmoth to have the specific top chosen, though, and you only get to see a small photo of it. That's on top of the $75 lam top charge.

But no set neck and definitely no Gibson headstock. If you’re spending 10k on a guitar an extra grand isn’t likely to mean anything.
@frogbastard
@frogbastard 3 жыл бұрын
I totally agree.Choose your slab of wood,and we will charge you an extra Grand.I refuse to be coned into going down that rabbit hole.11.5 grand for the Tom Murphy guitar? Too much hype.Want to age your guitar,leave it in your car one winter night then bring it inside and immediately open the case and Voila,it's been aged.Cost free
@DeirdreSM
@DeirdreSM 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a huge fan of headstock shapes and especially not logos on headstocks, so I actually prefer the no-logo aspect of Warmoths. As someone who really falls for specific wood looks, I very often will look at sites' photos of specific guitars to see which guitar I want to buy (which is one reason I bought my Taylor from Casino). I also disagree with you on the extra grand: some of the wealthiest people I've known have been the least likely to go for certain upsells.

People can spend how they want. It's their money. But, what you're really paying for in these circumstances is the name Gibson, Gibson Custom, Tom Murphy and Murphy Labs. It's not 1 for 1 guitar to dollar. Never has been for Gibson. Well, maybe in the 50s it was. It's like Harley Davidson.

@@vigilantebird8675 It's from like 2003 and I met this guy that used to work for Gibson and he said he figured it was one of the earlier guitars from the Memphis days. @sawblade37217

I agree. I couldn't believe they charge $1,000 just to choose guitar top, especially since the cost of raw materials and glue (could be Titebond II or Titebond III) is small in contrast to the cost of choosing your own top. I also doubt the cost of labor contributes to such a gross increase in cost. I gave Gibson a shot as recent as yesterday and I still don't feel a strong interest in their products, they're just too heavy and the price doesn't reflect the features when compared to other manufacturers.

When he said he was ready to do the neck test…I half expected him to pretend to drop that LP he was holding for the “test”. 😂 Edit: I think you might have skipped the special “room” with all the lefty’s in it…its easy to miss since it’s just a small utility closet, that’s empty. 😂

Thanks for watching and we did make it to the lefty room, it's three flights down and in the cellar, but was awesome!!!

@@CasinoGuitars 😂😂😂. I apologize for my assumption! You guys really did see everything in there!😂😂😂 You guys seriously make my day every post! Thanks for showing us the Gibson shop, some of us will never get to see it in person, but we do get to see it because of you, so thank you and your whole crew there! And I would’ve taken that guitar even if you ran it over with a truck let alone just breaking the neck!! Playable works of art…literally. Thanks again gentlemen. 🙏🙏🙏

@@CasinoGuitars You all should be proud of the work you do there! Your show really shows just how big of fans you all are of guitars just like your viewers/customers! You have fun as well as being professional when it’s the time and place for that. That’s a rare thing to be able to get across to people. I left you a DM on Instagram regarding a specific question…if someone sees it and can answer me I would really appreciate it! I’m your time of course, it’s no rush. Thank you again for taking the time to read a post of mine!! If only all guitar places were as happy to talk guitars as you guys! 🙏🙏

I’m more of a Fender girl, but I hate their reliced guitars. At least Gibson doesn’t go overboard

Yeah I'm a Fender guy myself and I absolutely love a beat up Strat when it has been organically done but when you pay some dude thousands to make it "look" that way it's really annoying to me. A few years ago I was getting rid of a certain Strat that I had and it had some dings on it and the shop where I was taking it said "well it has some dings on it and so that's gonna lower the value" and I said "yeah but if the Custom Shop had done that it would actually add thousands..." They really didn't have an answer for that. LOL!

Buying a guitar for that much cash, I prefer it be brand new! Buying a guitar with someone elses and or made up wear patterns is a head scratcher to me tbh! :)
