My mom has been cancer free for 1 year and her birthday is coming up this February. I think it would be a great idea to get her one of Nana’s recipes put on something special for my moms kitchen just like your daughter did for you. Our Christmas. We did not have a great Christmas. We got up at the normal time, took the dogs out and came back in. Things were great. About 30 minutes after we came in, one of our little dogs whined, ran into the bedroom, and collapsed. He was totally unresponsive. We rushed him into the emergency room and discovered that he had had an allergic reaction and went into anaphylactic shock. Happily, they were able to give him medication that helped him recover. He's been a bit "under the weather" for the past few days, but seems to be much more his normal "self" today. So we spent Christmas day in the emergency room. I cried and cried most of Christmas day (thought for sure we'd loose our little boy). The good news is his liver values have more than halved since Christmas day. We don't know what caused his allergic reaction--we think it may have been either a bee sting (it was warm on Christmas day, and bees will come out on warm winter days here in east Tennessee) or perhaps a spider bite. I feel so fortunate that we lucked into a wonderful vet at the emergency room who was able to diagnose and treat him so quickly--especially since this is relatively rare in dogs. If you have dogs, please be aware that this can happen (although it's my understanding that it's rare). One minute your dog appears happy and healthy and the next, they are comatose. I don't mean to scare any of you, but we were totally ignorant that this could even happen and we just couldn't imagine why one minute Riley was his happy, normal, bouncy self and the next minute he was completely unresponsive. We're hoping for a better New Year's Day! We are slowly getting over the "emotional hangover" of Christmas day and haven't even exchanged gifts yet (we've been going to our regular vet every day to have his blood levels checked, x-rays done, etc.). We go in tomorrow to get a "epi-pen" for him and they'll teach us how to use it. Then I hope we don't have to go back to the vet for a long, long, long time!!

My daughter gave me a cookbook holder a year ago with 2 favorite handwritten recipes by my late mom as well. She found an Etsy company called Loud and Proud that made hers. It made me cry as well and I'm 70. It's precious and displayed on my kitchen counter too. Thank you Renee. This made my day.

I noticed the clean, crisp new intro right away. It's nice. I love when things are etched. I've never been a fan of the saying "Well, it's not etched in stone." All I can think is, '"why not?" I also love black ink from an indelible ink pen. It's committed, secure, and comforting to me. What an incredible gift, and the B-girl even thought of the perfect way to present it to you. My Mom passed away in 1997 and I don’t have anything with her hand print and when my Dad remarried, the second wife got rid of everything that was hers. I understand, but she should have given it to one of the 7 kids. I am so glad you have that.

It's hard, my Mom died on Valentine's Day, 2022, and I'll still, out of the blue, get a lump in my throat and heart wishing she was here. She lived a good and happy life for 92 years. My mom didn't write down many of her recipes but when I was stationed in Japan in the Air Force, she would write me letters and would answer my request for a recipe throughout a letter (not just a recipe) but her commentaries were hilarious. She is Japanese so she would write like she pronounced words. So celery would become cerry (no L's) and then she'd say "you don't drink too much over there" then she would list another ingredient. I saved all those letters. She passed away in 2001 at the age of 73. I just turned 60. A precious gift from your daughter. Give her an extra hug for me the next time you see her!! I love the intro and I love your special gift. I can so relate. Last Christmas my daughter-in-law gave me a pie plate with my Mom’s picture and a pie filling recipe in her own handwriting. I too cried like a baby. My Mom was still living then but passed about 3 weeks ago on December 6th, 2023. This Christmas she gave me a special ornament which I will always treasure. I too have my Mom’s pie plate displayed on my counter. It’s my most precious gift!! Hugs to you ❤

That is such a beautiful gift you received and I know how emotional it is for you. Two years ago for Christmas, my daughter gave me a bracelet that says "All My Love" in my mother's handwriting. She got it from a greeting card my Mom had given her years before. When I opened the box with the bracelet and saw my mother's handwriting, I cried like you did. I treasure that bracelet and wear it all the time and always feel my mother's presence. My daughter also got it from an Etsy store. Happy New Year and BTW, I love the new intro.

I would get a wooden easel to sit in on where it leans back a little and nothing will be spilled on it. Michaels sells them. I put cookbooks on them, but it would work well. By your wooden knife block would be a fitting location as well. My grown son and I was talking about my mom's cooking, baking, and recipes and how we miss her and her cooking so much. Cooking was love for her. She was amazing. Love the gift idea. I like the new intro. Kind of reminds me of a Caribbean flair or steel drum on the beach sound. I love cleaning and donating after Christmas to start the new year refeshed.

Renée, your new intro is perfect! I also loved your Vlogmas video’s, as well. I know just how special it is. Tears are certainly in order for this special gift. In 4th grade, my family, including my Granny, took a vacation and she brought Drop Cookies…. My first. She explained that it was her Mama’s recipe. Oh, my! How delicious! My Mom, who died February of 2020, had been sent to her by Granny. In Mom’s vert neat handwriting, she copied it on a recipe card that says “from Mother”. My granddaughter went to Etsy and gifted me a beautiful chopping board with the recipe in Mom’s handwriting. What a thoughtful and beautiful gift! I love it…and I shed tears just looking at the history and love in it. Tears are good. ❤
