I know this sounds crazy but as someone who's younger and slowly getting ready for university without having a clue in life, hearing Pete say that the last 4 years in his life have been the most fulfilling or just interesting so far at 40 really makes me realize how stupid my own worries about life are. I don't know if it's always been like this but especially with how the internet is nowadays, it feels like if you haven't got everything figured out by ~20, you're wasting your time. I have big dreams for sure and I don't know if I'll ever reach them but just hearing Pete's story and seeing how his life has taken a big turn with streaming at his age really eases my mind and makes me realize I have so much more time. Thank you.

As someone who got a late start to university due to loss bc of the pandemic as well as not knowing what I want to do, I felt the same kind of reassurance hearing all that you mentioned as well as Pete talking about being in university at 24. Ignore it all, my 30s were a blast because I stopped caring by the time I hit 27 and just started enjoying life rather than looking over my shoulder all the time.

Theres one clip of Pete and Connor drinking and they were talking how when Pete was in school, they isolated Pete, thinking he has a disability, and basically saying he's not gonna make it when he's older. The fact the he got out of there and has such a strong will is respectable. I don't often leave comments on youtube but for some reason it feels necessary today. So, I've almost exclusively seen Pete through other creator's content, I think beginning with the Abroad in Japan podcast maybe 3 or 4 years ago when one day it was suddenly "American Pete" and I was like hey where the hell is my non-american pete?? Since then he's been one of my favorite cameos. But....at some point during this episode I started to get worried that it was going to end soon because I was thoroughly enjoying the conversations. Pete is a great story teller and seems to find ways to effortlessly relate to the people around him. Not to be too parasocial, but I imagine he is just as compassionate and passionate in his offline life as well. Anyway, all this to say I think now is the time I begin to seek out some other American Pete content, cause at some point during this episode I started to get worried that it was going to end soon. The relief I felt when I saw that I was only 53 minutes in was palpable. Anyway, fire dynamic between you four. GGs

In college now but for me growing up it was pretty stigmatized if you were having sex and lost your virginity, that’s my experience at least, especially if you were under 16 and definitely under 18 it was majorly stigmatized as well and if you were an openly horny mfer people thought you were just cringe and small brained

I'm a girl so we have a more wary approach when it comes to that, especially since in my country a lot of women are still treated like the "worse" version of people and are constantly being taken advantage of. But anyways, I'd say the pressure is still there although it might be smaller now and maybe the older highschool students don't feel it anymore. I'd also just like to add that even if there isn't that much pressure over losing your v-card there 100% is one with dating but that might be normal for highschoolers

Notice how such culture came from shows like American Pie, Sex in the City, etc. Simply put, it highlights the power of the owners of media, especially regarding tv shows and movies. It's important for us to stop and self evaluate, and not be controlled. We are constantly being "influenced" by media and even influencers and we should really be conscious on what ideas we take on, and evaluate for ourselves if such ideas should be part of our identity.

As an American i can confirm it is a vibe and need to want the coolest basement. I am currently saving up to fund a dig out of a basement in my home. Also, in terms of separate large freezers at least in my experience we were raised to always have at least 3 months worth of food on hand in case something happened (whether it be frozen meat for when price increases or scarcity, or canned food - this rule really came in clutch when my uncle who I was talking care of and living with passed away while my partner and I had just finished up school and were still looking for a jobs as my uncle paid for the house and food at the time.). There is something about America where we always think everything is gonna go to shit at any moment so we prepare. We also often had a 2nd fridge just for drinks.

There was none in my experience. In fact, the social situations served to do the opposite. Most of the pressure has been from older people

44:18 One of the reasons this is a feature, is because commercials tend to broadcast at a louder volume than the TV programs. Another reason is to make the volume uniform between different tv-programs. Sadly it also ruins the sound dynamics of the programs themselves.

I went to college in Oregon and I loved the bus system and walkability. Moved backed to Texas and I feel so locked in. I can’t walk around, can’t just take a bus. Gotta pay 1,000s for car insurance and stuff.

I don't have awkward stories of early dates because of my raised baptist debuff.

1:33:21 most of the pressure I've gotten to lose my virginity has actually been from older people still having those kinds of expectations to lose it early. although, a lot of people I know have been messing around like that since ~15 so it really depends what environment you're in. those people who do end up doing that earlier on also mess around with drugs like weed and things like that more often than not, which isn't a bad thing and I actually think is fine as long as they're safe and not abusing it. on the flip side, I have friends who are totally innocent in that regard and don't even use the Internet, so they definitely don't experience that societal push to lose their virginity or even date. you never hear about their perspectives due to them not being online which is kinda crazy.

18 year old from the US here. The pressure to lose your virginity in high school is certainly less than when y’all were growing up, but it still exists in the background. I’m a college freshman now and am the only one of my guy friends who has never dated someone. They never said anything about it so it’s not so much an external pressure as it once was. I would say the high-school and college hook-up culture certainly still exists, but I find that I am much more interested in trying to start properly dating someone than I am in losing my virginity.

1:33:40 As a younger person, there is not that pressure at least where I’m from. People lowkey just be doing their own stuff, and if there is someone who’s trynna put pressure, they’re just seen as weird
