Unless it's been changed, the single best weapon for this character is sniper gun. The extra projectiles scale with engineering, which is great given how much you get

this sounds like it would lag the game at level 4 sniper gun and level 4 builder's turret

Probably not. The projectile explosion has really low scaling because it's meant to scale from Range, of which you have hundreds. So if that's changed to Engineering, it'll deal no damage.

This is my favorite of the new characters. So far, I’ve done runs with Revolver, Slingshot, SMG, and Laser. Slingshot was by far the most fun, especially once I started getting decent knockback and some lifesteal due to how they work. Laser was probably the most powerful once I got set up

Notably: the melee weapons are largely not great, Shotgun and Wand are absolute traps, and Shredder is mediocre unless you get a ton of Extra Enemies items (at which point it becomes hilariously powerful)

sniper rifle is also absurd on builder, for some reason the bounce shots also scale off engineering instead of range

Which is terrible. The scaling on that is low because you have hundreds of range. So with having pidly nothing of engineering, it will do no damage.

The balancing could have changed but last I had a sniper rifle on builder the sniper bounces did way more damage than they would have if they scaled off eng with the same rate as range

Going into wave 4 you should have combined to a level 2 revolver since you had a replacement locked. Even if you valued a bullet from the character at the same rate as a bullet from the turret, you're essentially upgrading 2 revolvers for the cost of 1.

Funny, I thought the way you build this character is 5 hands for harvesting and one tier 4 gun so it was cool to see it immediately play out it with the first weapon being a hand. Nice to see a probably better strategy.

When i saw this character firs time i just "wtf?". But now it's clearly one of the strongest and most interesting in the game Also I don't think he needs crit chance to structures because we end up with negative crit % and also there is so many items for the character with great stats but minus crit chance In general very good guide

I personally get the main wepaon to purple and stack support weapons for the harvest buff the lute is the best imo

I really like the Slingshot (getting it to lvl IV as soon as possible) with 5 of any Support weapons for the Builder. That way you can just stand around doing nothing from wave 6-7 on.^^

First time playing this character I also fell into trap thinking that I have to buy "Pile of books" in order to be able to crit via this special turret, but its multiplier and base crit chance is based of best weapon just as its damage scaling.

So, I think we can clearly establish that there is a difference between "being stupid" and momentarily forgetful while you play a game, have running commentary, videoing it, and fighting the flu. You are most definitely not stupid 28:18 . I used the Revolver simply because it was good dps, and had high knockback. During my run I got a level 3 Ghost Scepter and gathered 30+ health from the turret before upgrading to the level 4 Revolver.

Can you try a triple druid group run and get fruit healing into the negatives to see if the poisoned fruit heals you?

You can't get negative healing. It caps at 0. Much like you don't take damage from negative Regen.

Doesn't your crit apply to the turret without the need for pile of books? I noticed around wave 10 the turret still critting for around 170 damage even with minus crit. Need to do the run again I guess to see.

No, it doesn't. However, the turret does coppy the base crit chance of your weapon, so it can crit. But it won't get your full crit without Books.
