If you dry the lighter some, it will work fine. Just shake it, then force air (blow) into it. I can swim with a bic lighter in my pocket and have it working in 30 seconds.

So I just wanna say that I've done this with a bic lighter and it will work. However you have to blow air (from your mouth not high compressed air.) into the top for about 10 - 30 seconds. This will get the flint to dry and allow you to strike a flame.
