A 1911 with a light rail just doesn't seem natural to me.I do like a 1911 to be pretty much plain Jane but I do like the extended beaver tail.Chip McCormick mags are usually good products,I have a couple of extras for my Tisas.I have the same sights on my Tisas and find I also have to aim a tad high to hit center mass from 10 yards.I've been keeping an eye on the Girsan firearms as of late,they seem to have a good line up of pistols.

Thank you for covering/using a lot of budget firearms in your videos. Not everyone can always afford to go out and buy the latest and greatest firearms. I don't like to admit it, but as someone who has bills to pay and gets paid weekly, I can't afford a new S&W revolver (as an example) outright in today's market. I couldn't have gotten a firearm like my recent S&W 586 without buying from a good seller with a generous layaway like I did. I feel somewhat ashamed admitting needing to use layaway, but that's just the reality for me if I want to be able to get a "quality" firearm.
@LionquestFitness7 ай бұрын
Layaway has been my best friend in buying firearms. It's allowed me to experience many types of guns. And to be honest, there was many years I could only afford low end firearm, and am still hanging to the middle of the pack today in our uncertain times That is where I developed the philosophy of accepting less than the best tools and learning to get the most out of them.
@3Pillers7 ай бұрын
Also a fan and am thankful for those that have a layaway program. I also budget, set aside a little for ammo on a regular basis. Hopefully when a good deal comes along I can take advantage. And I have. Budgeting, planned saving 👍. Safe shooting.

Thanks for another great video, Greg 👍 Like you, I can't stand a 1911 with the light rail...it absolutely ruins the classic lines...& you're 100% correct that most hiccups with a 1911 can be quickly traced to the magazine. Thanks for the tip about Slim the gunsmith.. I'll have to try & reach him to swap out the sights on my Springfield R.O. Haven't had any experience with Girsans, but I can say that Tisas definitely makes a great 1911...! ! Keep up the good work, Amigo, & keep your powder dry....

It seems that I was one of the lucky few to get a Girsan Ranger MC1911C that as minimal lettering and a smoother finish. The gun really looks fabulous and I got it for $360 about 3 years ago from Sportsman Guide website. I have not see this gun for sale anywhere since. I lightly stoned the slide rails using BROWNELLS 1911 SLIDE/FRAME RAIL FILE and sanding stone. I also used 1000 grit sandpaper on the inner slide rail surfaces. This made the gun a lot smoother. I also installed Wilson Combat Group Gripper. I find that 1911s benefit from a trigger job more than most other pistols and this is this gun would be greatly improved by one.

Covid accelerated people tossing in the towel that were already over 65. Our politicians instigated by Colleges and Unions push/ directed students to go to college vs trades schools. The young people entering trades will need to go thourgh apprentice programs and have a long learning curve. The ones that stick with it will have rewarding careers and will be making more than college grades with useless degrees and in massive debt.

That's a nice gun. After the break in period of a couple of boxes of 230 hard ball, the 1911 is a very reliable platform. They will eat any hollow point and run flawlessly, as long as you have quality magazines. You don't have to spend $2500 to get an accurate and reliable 1911.

Knock off M1911s by lousy companies were a plague on the M1911 brand when Colt's patent ran out. A whole generation grew up thinking 1911s were jam-o-matics and went on to became Glock cultists. It's good to see some change to that. Turkey gets a lot of well deserved hate for importing so many lousy guns to America. But they _can_ make good quality guns. The challenge for Americans is finding out which of those funny sounding company names make good products.

For me these days its the lower end. I bought a norinco 1911 copy long ago before the clinton ban. It fires all ammo perfectly except for those funky shaped rounds. Not ball but a slight angle. Every thing else works great. I have about 8 extra mags. 7 rounds is plenty for me.

If those pistols weren't so darn heavy, I would probably carry one. A decent 1911 is quite pleasant to shoot, IMO. I'm not sure what you can do to fix the sights on that. Are they milled into the slide or dovetail fit? The latter would reduce the problem to finding someone who sells compatible sights that are better regulated for the ammunition you like to shoot.

One of the things I noticed post Covid was that I've had that issue with more and more handguns. Is it the manufacturer, me, or both? Could be aging and the astigmatism in my right eye that makes shooting with a red dot difficult. On the other hand,Taurus for one, has lowered the front sight on their snubs. I just work with whatever gun I'm shooting.
@Fudmottin7 ай бұрын
@@LionquestFitness Covid has had an impact on manufacturing. However, I think it's more like the straw breaking the camel's back than the actual cause, so to speak. There are certain very important skills that have gone out of fashion. The people who have them are hitting retirement age. CNC machining doesn't really take away the need for good machinists.

i'm evidently not receiving notifications; i missed this one. great shooting and content again. turkey seems to be turning out some good guns. elizabeth warren wasn't a native american? i probably have more, also, with probably a smattering of african, too. there were a lot of nationally non-recognized tribes around after the tuscarora wars that weren't characterized officially by the state as white, black, or indian. i think they all fell under colored and included a varied mixture of genes.. the tuscarora and lumbee are two examples of which my family tree has a tuscarora branch. interesting fact not well known as not taught much: the cherokee helped the colonists in the war against the tuscarora, as they were ancestral enemies, so that they could enslave the captured and march them to the port of charleston to sell into slavery to work the carribean sugar plantations where life expectancy was very short.
