My personal favorite scotch distillery! They are doing everything right for consumers: high ABV, non chill filtered, natural color, and good price point. Glendronach all day over any Macallan!

That's interesting - looking up "Glendronach Age Chart." So I just bought a bottle today (Jan 17,2023) which I see now is dated Sept 2022 on the bottle etching, so I guess it's actually 27 years old! That makes me feel a little better about dropping $299 + Tax on it:)

I really like the fact that this whisky is actually older than it says on the label. Fun fact the 2022 bottling will reach its peak at 27 years old before it resets to 21 the following year.

Sherry casks enough, but Glendronach does sherry and sherry, no bourbon cask stuff. One of my favorite brands in whisky when it comes to taste.

The Parliament is the first scotch I purchased that I felt was worth the $200+ price point (I found a few bottles for $160-180/each). I think if you didn't know the age statement, and just did it blind on flavor, I think it stands up to other whiskies at that pricepoint, and blows some out of the water. One of my all-time favorites (and I'm usually a peathead).

Iove both the 18 and 21 and agree with most of your comments on this bottle. However, you gave the Dalmore King Alexander 4s across the board and IMO this Glendronach is a vastly superior bottle in every way; taste, natural color, non chill filtered, price, and ABV.. You guys should do a head to head and see if your scores hold. Great review!

I love this stuff. I go back and forth on the 18 vs this. I tend to lean towards the Allardice, but that also may be that I drink it a lot more often due to price. I haven't had this in way too long, I'm gonna need to track down a bottle soon. Cheers, boys.

Wanted a celebratory bottle and went with this one today. I’m in Vancouver BC and in all the BC liquor stores (200 stores) there was only 1 bottle left. $269 CAD ($213 USD). Pricy but I’m excited to try it. Thanks for the review

I'm in the "love it" camp. I had both the 18 and 21 (2018) and really enjoyed it. I now have the 18 (2019 unopened) and will be looking to get the 21 (2020, 2021, 2022 hopefully 🤞🏼)

In Quebec, this particular bottle is 203 CAD$, so 155$ USD at the SAQ (province state liquor store). But i think it's one of the cheapest place to purchase Glendronach product globaly.

up in Québec, Canada, these are impossible to find. We had one batch that sold out quicker than jordan sneakers, I'm talking literally seconds! managed to scoop a bottle and for once a product is cheaper here than in the States, got it for 152USD all in. Great review and can't wait to open it on a special occasion

Hi guys, great review, as always. I have the view in the 18 v 21 debate, if you enjoy a little sweeter, richer big sherry bombs you might prefer the 18. If you like it a little less sweet with a citrusy edge 21 will be your dram. I will take them both, thanks very much! 😂😂😂 My preference is 18.

Of the glendronach mainstream lineup, I’ve read that the sherry influence is more pronounced in the following order: 15,18,21 so it’s interesting that you mention this as a sherry grail whisky. But your info that it will still have some of the remains of their legacy batch of Malts intrigues me... I may just have to add to cart 😅

@@WoodshavenPatriot yes logically (and all factors being even), a cask that contains a whisky for a longer period of time will impart more cask influence. I have a 15 on the way to me soon so i can maybe compare the 15 with my 18 (both will be the newer more recent bottlings) and see if that's indeed contrary to the many impressions i read online... wont have a 12 or 21 to compare to unfortunately. Slainte! :)

They say it's at 48% so you can add your touch of water to open it up ever so slightly so where you might add a bit of water to a regular 46er or 43er, those are stepping those down that much more, at least a few points, but at 48%, add a touch of water and you'll get a beautifully mature whisky that's showing its very best and still at around 46% give or take. Those who enjoy it neat at 48%? Of course! It's generous of them and an era that will sadly come to an end. CS O/PX GD's are incredible, even at a younger age (I mean the single cask range, far over any of their "CS" range which are enjoyable, but not the same), but Parliament? It's a gorgeous offering from them that's widely available. Interestingly, a friend recently shared a Parliament with me from an older bottling where the contents were actually 21 years old, it was incredible too! So, whatever the age in the bottle (and I've been lucky to have a bunch of different vintages), it seems like it can do no wrong. Will there actually be 2021 and 2022 bottlings? Only time will tell.. it recently went up $75 in price here where I live in Canada (...sigh).

Great whisky! As far as prices go one has to be fair and compare it with other 21y (or even 24y) old, fully sherry matured single malts of this quality and they aren't easy to come by (f. ex.: Dalmore 21y old => ~575€ & bottled at only 42%, Macallan 21y old Fine Oak => ~900€, bottled at 43% and that's a combination of 3 different casks - not exclusively ex-sherry. The only real contender I can think of at the moment is Glengoyne 21 but that one is also only bottled at 43%).

@@phacomd but are they fully matured in sherry? I can also mention Glen Farclas 25 which is pretty cheap but it's a different kind of sherry-whisky (a lot of refill cask go in that one) which suffers quite a bit from batch-variations

And now, if I find it for a great price, who do I trust? More of a general question but maybe a short video on this would be a great topic.

Great whisky, indeed. I actually consider the 18 to be the weak link in the range. It’s better than the 12 but not by enough. I would buy the 12 instead of the 18. In Europe I can get the 21 cheaper so it’s definitely worth the money. My only beef with your rating system is that you take price into account. I do not when I rate them. For example, Macallan 18 is just about a perfect 10 in my scoring system. I don’t buy it because of the price. But it’s still a 10. Cheers. Love the show!

Now you're digging into the underbelly of Glendronach's history.... I'm curious to know when your bottle was actually bottled.... I have a few bottles and will check their labels...maybe we can compare and discover one of the labels is from "Pre" mothballing? Although, it may be just as simple as a wee bit of a label change after Brown Foreman bought them a few years ago? ~Mark
